I just bought and received from amazon the following: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AU6AVLW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Perks: getting off the floor will help with heat trapping, underneath can be used as storage, comfortable mattress that comes with it.
Cons: it is kinda heavy, but it collapses down to a decent size. Think of the collapsed size of an EZ Up tent.
I haven't set it up yet, however. I am planning on doing that tonight to make sure everything is kosher.
Why not both?
I have a Coleman setup that puts a queen size air mattress on top of a double cot (for 2 of us) with a little sleeve that holds the mattress in place: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AU6AVLW/.
Pretty much the best of both worlds. Raises you up and gives you under bed storage like a cot while giving you the cushion and adjustability of an air mattress. And the air mattress fails, you're still on a cot! I've been using it since 2017 for burning man and many other camping trips and it's still going strong. Only thing that's failed is the carrying case it came with (ripped open last year). With some proper bedding on top of the mattress (I have use mattress pad + fitted sheet @ burning man) it's also very lux.
They also make smaller versions of this if you're just one person.
This is what I got for this summer. First trip is in a couple weeks, but after just an air mattress on the ground last year I wanted to get up higher, but still need room on the bed with me for the dogs.
Since my wife and I got this like 10 years ago we haven’t gone back to anything else

Back when I camped I used Coleman Camping Cot, Air Mattress, and Pump Combo | Folding Camp Cot and Air Bed with Side Tables and Battery Operated Pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AU6AVLW/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_E3E0E05Q0AG00G93CMYM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
. Was nice to be off the ground . I also just used a canopy with walls and ditched the tent. Much more room and less hot.
Thanks, I've looked at a few cots, including stuff like this:

I have looked at canned food, especially soups etc, but as you said, it gets bulky. But at least with the boat I can store a good amount of of supplies on-board.
Just bought this bad boy...I'll be happy to say goodbye to sleeping like absolute shit this year :) http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Queen-Airbed-Tables-Battery/dp/B00AU6AVLW?ie=UTF8&keywords=coleman%20cot&qid=1462130781&ref_=sr_1_4&s=outdoor-recreation&sr=1-4

Queen sized cot! $155 on amazon.
Coleman Airbed Cot - Queen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AU6AVLW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Wp8YybGN404Q8
I have a nice coleman cot with air mattress on top. Its almost as comfortable as my bed at home. I have the queen size one, since I need to share it with 2 large dogs, and it is a bitch to haul around. Totally worth it though. I also put down one of the outdoor rugs next to the bed, since its a bit more comfortable for the dogs to may on then the tent floor.
For $211CA you can get one of these: [https://www.amazon.ca/Coleman-Camping-Mattress-Folding-Battery/dp/B00AU6AVLW?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref\_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER\\](https://www.amazon.ca/Coleman-Camping-Mattress-Folding-Battery/dp/B00AU6AVLW?source...
I have one of these things and it's pretty amazing--always pull it out when I have guests over and they always love it--I slept on it myself for a while between moves.
What everyone else said is gospel 10x10 Canopy, straight leg if you can. It's also REALLY important to spend $5-$6 to get a camping mallet -- one of those ones the the heavy rubber head and the wooden handle AND the little metal hook on the bottom -- to hammer your stakes into the ground and pull them out at the end of the weekend.
I've been three times. The first two were with a basic, single cot. I got a raise at work and upgraded to this for '19 and will be back with it this year. Don't forget pillows and sheets.
I sleep in a tent that connects to a 10x10 straight leg canopy up. For this setup, the Canopy and tent are sold separately. Grab a spray bottle of RainX and spray down your tent, whichever you choose, and it'll help rain run off the tent. Also, if you're going to have an outside sitting area under shade, a tarp is good to put on the ground so you're not stomping around in the mud -- it'll have rivets on the outside so hammer that to the ground too. Also, I did buy a large, waterproof drybag if a monsoon comes quick for me to throw stuff in, if I have to run into the car.
These types of walls are good for if its going to rain because, unlike something that might be cotton, they won't get wet and heavy. They can be connected to your canopy with their attachments or some extra large binder clips.
Like everyone said, non perishable energy type foods, and it'll be nice to have a case of water with you at camp, if you just want to chill and don't want to get up. Freeze some so it stays cold through the weekend as it melts, and keep it in your cooler to keep your other water/cold snacks cold.
I have some big ugly rain boots and also some duck boots, because while some situations necessitate the big waffle stompers, if I'm going to have to walk around alot, I want something easier to walk around in so I have duck boots for that. Have a rain coat that can fold up, and remember that if its raining your pants/shorts will get wet too, so I only wear swim trunks/hybrid shorts/hiking shorts that don't absorb water -- i'm a guy.
Here's a helpful checklist that can help you remember some things you might have forgotten or not thought of. If you have extra space bring an extra of the things that won't take up too much space.
All that said, shade, water, sunscreen and the right shoes are the most important things. I've seen people literally break their collarbone on Thursday and keep partying all weekend. If you are dehydrated, or burnt or can't walk those things will wreck your weekend.
Personal recommendations: Lt. Dan was right in Forrest Gump, keep your feet dry. Particularly if you're going to be walking and dancing when its hot during the day and you're wearing closed-toed shoes or sneakers, change your socks, and in addition to that I bring Tinactin spray. Athlete's foot got me when I got home in year 1, and I had to put a stop to that going forward. Also, electrolytes are your friend -- Gatorade/Powerade/Electrolyte powder or tablets.

I have this Coleman set up for my bed. It’s a cot & mattress (so if your mattress leaks air, you still have support and can get out of bed a little easier): https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Camping-Mattress-Folding-Battery/dp/B00AU6AVLW/
I also have this Intex inflatable corner couch for chilling in. *The price usually dips to $80… it looks like it’s $114 currently: https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Inflatable-Corner-Sectional-Cupholders/dp/B079Z2QWYQ/
They seem to work better when they dont have a built in pump. I'm absolutely in love with mine:

Elevated cot Best camping investment ever.
Ticket includes camping although you're not forced to camp. I wouldn't suggest staying off site but you can, I'm unsure if there are parking only options for that. Part of the magic of forest is staying on the ranch though. Could rent an RV. Or personally I use the Coleman cot air mattress for camping, it's basically as comfy as a bed and if the air mattress goes flat it's still a decent cot underneath! Or I've also seen on Amazon folding mattresses.
