Oh no - as a fellow traditional/digital artist by profession and evening gamer, I relate to this so bad.
About a month ago, I also started experiencing swelling in my hands and extreme pain (especially in the mornings). It was bad enough that I couldn't bend my fingers due to the severity of the swelling and soreness. I use my hands all day long and it was a truly awful experience.
My understanding is that it has to do with lymph circulation, and as the body invites more fluid into it, it likes to pool in the hands and feet. Keeping my hands cold helped at first (I just dipped them in ice water every so often), because heat doesn't help with lymph but cold does.
Secondly, and the most useful thing I'm eternally grateful for, are these arthritis gloves I purchased out of desperation from Amazon. The best use I've discovered (for me) is to put them on before bed and wear them for the duration of the night. They have helped so much with the pain.
Additionally, I have these wrist braces that I will wear in conjunction with the gloves. In my experience, they didn't help with the pain, but they do help keep my hands from feeling tingling/numbness.
If you choose to try these options out, I hope they help! They've drastically improved my hands and while the pain hasn't 100% gone away, I can work with them all day without suffering.
