Professor Messer. https://www.professormesser.com/ for free videos and links to paid practice tests.
If you are looking for a textbook I would recommend this one: https://www.amazon.com/CompTIA-Security-Study-Guide-SY0-601/dp/1119736250/ref=asc\_df\_1119736250/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459538011055&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8388140836329626864&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
And when you think you are ready for the exam you can buy my workbook to test yourself: https://www.areyoupreparedfor.com/
I read this cover to cover, passed after 3ish weeks with no experience
CompTIA Security+ Study Guide:... https://www.amazon.com/dp/1119736250?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Security+. is literally the graduation requirement. I highly reccomend getting the certification before hand and then you can just focus on the block material.
if you are unfamiliar with the exam it is outlined in the below link
https://www.comptia.org/certifications/security
up to 90 questions 5 performance based questions the rest are multiple choice. in order to pass you need a score of 750 out of 900 which is a 83% to pass the test.
I highly siggest getting the following material to help study.
1.the wiley Sybex book for Sec+ SYO-601 is the current version. it costs $27.00 very much worth it.
CompTIA Security+ Study Guide: Exam SY0-601 https://www.amazon.com/dp/1119736250/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_YMVR0TTP413HRMP0C9MP
The price of the course atm is $99.00 but wait a few days or of your new to udemy the cpurse cost will 100% drop to about $10.00-15.00,udemy has 80-90% sales all the time.
ultimatley if your motivated you can do this self study method and can pass security+ in about 2-3 weeks on your own. i would reccomend doing this as if you dont pass on your own at least you studied and know the material quite a bit, so when you go to take it at keesler in the classroom setting you will have a huge advantage on most others.
the voucher for the exam is $370.00
I honestly cannot stress the importance of studying for this exam. I have seen many students fail this due to lack of traditional studying and them just relying on the professor messer videos.
bottomline take the studying seriously. study the book primarily and use the videos to nail concepts down. take tons of practice questions. the sybex book comes with an online test bank you can take as many quizes as you desire with. and then the jason dion course has additional test banks as well.
I hope this is good enough information for you. dm me if you have any questions.
Third party. Professor Messer has free giant playlists for the trio of certs, and is about the best first pass out there. It's been years since I took CompTIA certs, but for other certs I've had success using the lighthouse book and gold book if you're the reading type. Outside of these you'll find many, many sources of high-quality free-to-low-cost training for CompTIA, which is a large part of the reason they're such great certs to consider.
