I hope to take Net+ right after Sec+, so Im watching a Net+ vid at the same time I prep for Sec+ as Dion stressed that you need that info.
For sec+ I think the Neil book is very focused, not what some would call wordy. I would like to have bought the Pearson guide, but it wont be available for another month.
Good luck,

I read through [this book](comptia security+: SY0-601 Certification Guide: Complete coverage of the new CompTIA Security+ (SY0-601) exam to help you pass on the first attempt, 2nd Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/1800564244/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_1WBWNZD4ZSQXYECW6K9C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) first over like a month or two pretty slowly. I would say I studied hard over the last 1-2 months. I got messor's practice exams over a month ago and went through those thoroughly and multiple times. I would review what I missed and why I missed it. I also work in IT so I do have a background in it and knew some of the stuff beforehand.
On that info: Bought

I bought a similar bundle for the LInux+ , I would not do so again. Their ebook was well written, but the practice tests were no better than any that come with the other study guides that I bought,
The free vids are by Professor Messer on youtube,
Jason Dion also has a good video course for it on Udemy,
The book Im going with is below, but they also have the Sybex and AIO brands for the same rating. Ive rarely seen anyone on here say that the Official Comptia training is anything special.

The book was honestly really good and Practice questions and PBQs I used from https://gcgapremium.com/security-online-study-materials/
I was pretty knowledgeable, the book and the practice tests helped alot, the questions explain why the answer is right or wrong and why it isn't the other answers, the questions do prepare you, but the problem was how the questions were asked on the test kind of confusing.
I recommend you get these resources:

Im using this one, below but I also plan to get the Pearson study guide as I love their practice quiz's that can be timed and set to focus on certain area's, also the 'get certified ,get ahead' is a steal at half this price for the Kindle edition,

I am , this is the guide I like, but there are many. And few look at the Pearson study guides which come with great practice quizzes
