...Seconding what someone else wrote about letting the steroids work to get the flare under control.
There should be a standard guide for people using steroids. Hardest part (for me) is the feeling of my brain rev'ing a high speed, etc. Remember it's the drugs, not you! That said, while you're taking the medicine, it's worth researching longer term management tools like diet (https://www.ntforibd.org/), IBD-AID, SCD, etc. And finding tools like stretching/yoga, the Kabat-Zinn mindfulness program , and when you're feeling stronger, perhaps a punching bag:)
The steroids--even though they can be discombobulating to be on--are temporary. Definitely try to learn as much as possible, see how your body reacts.
