According to some information and reviews on the Amazon page, the first three episodes, "Asteroid Blues", "Ballad of Fallen Angels" and "Wild Horses" were picked by Watanabe himself for having the best sound quality. The second lot of episodes, "Waltz for Venus", "Mushroom Samba" and "Hard Luck Woman" were chosen by Japanese audiences.

u/automatic_bazooti u/SergioSlim1 Oh good to know. I saw it says "Perfect Sessions" and got it confused with the "Best Sessions" release which was only 6 episodes that Watanabe considered to be the best ones.
