Let's start really basic. Where are you going to use these? In a theater? on your desk? This is a great option if you are using them in a relatively large room or outside, but unless you really need this high output, you can buy new speakers that won't need an amp and are significantly better for just slightly more money - the JBL LSR305.
Ever heard of Crown amps? You should, they are literally the largest amplifier company in the world. And they've been phasing out their XLS series, so you can get a very nice 215 wpc amp with a built in crossover for under $200.
If I'm not mistaken, the entire line is on sale and being replaced with the XLS XXX2 series, so if you felt like it (probably not necessary), you can get 375 watts for $250.
Let me suggest this Crown XLS 1000. It's relatively cheap and light (11lbs) for a power amp and is definitely pro-gear. It packs huge power handling capability with crystal clear sound reproduction. I've been loving mine.
It can deliver over 700W to an 8ohm load in bridged mode and 1100W to a 2ohm load (from memory, might be a little off)

Crown XLS series amps like that are an insane value.
You might consider an amp like the Crown XLS1000 and 2x12 cabinet. It gives you a little more power and flexibility. You could add a mixer and mics for band practice, for example. Or a mixer and mics on real cymbals. The drum monitors are nice, but they are spendy for basically a 12" powered speaker.

Here is a Crown amp, rated at 1,000 watts model # XLS*1000* into 4ohms 1 channel: http://www.amazon.com/Crown-XLS1000-Power-Amplifier/dp/B003HZPKSM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399337250&sr=8-1&keywords=crown+amplifier
It is only 215 WPC at 8ohms.
Here is a QSC RMX 1850HD Amplifier, rated to 1800 watts into 4 ohms 1 channel - it is only 360WPC into 8ohms. http://www.amazon.com/QSC-RMX1850HD-Stereo-Power-Amplifier/dp/B0002GXXLA/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1399337366&sr=8-12&keywords=qsc+amplifier
So want to try that again? usually amplifiers are rated at total wattage into 4ohms for one channel.
