This is not a sale.
The list price on Amazon is $107, which is exactly the same.

The fact that you are taking some sitewide coupon and applying it to this does not make it a sale.
And if they both check out after badblocks -wsv
, I'd pick the HGST because a tiny bit faster.
But I'd also point out that a 1TB Crucial MX500 is only $90 and would be way faster and way safer as a portable device.
At those sizes, why wouldn't you pick an SSD like a Crucial MX500 1TB? It will breathe new life into your laptop and make it feel fast.
If you do end up going w/ an HDD, be sure to Bing the model number and "smr" to make sure it isn't SMR.
I bought this for my PS4 pro last year.
Crucial MX500 1 TB CT1000MX500SSD1(Z)-Up to 560 MB/s (3D NAND, SATA, 2.5 Inch, Internal SSD), Grey https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_R74495ZF8H475H8YH3TM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Boots quicker and I noticed a difference in loading times in some games. I think it’s worth the upgrade
To be fair though, the 860 Evo is $10 more bucks, so for the QVO's intended niche as a decent storage drive, it's just as good and you save $10 for something more important.
Still, why not a 1 TB MX500 at that point? $85, now you've saved $25 for a moderately better case or a couple extra fans or a TI-89 Titanium off Craigslist.
spend $7 more and get an Crucial MX500 1tb for $84.99
and before anyone quotes me the recent write issue.... keep in mind that just because a couple redditors claim they have an issue means nothing.
There will always be a small group of people who experience issues with any product
and you should stop parroting things.
Replace hybrid drive with pure ssd
see if you can up the ram as well
Don't clone your drive.. install fresh version of windows and drivers.
"Penny wise, pound foolish" when the 1TB Crucial MX500 is $103.49 ~~on Amazon~~ virtually everywhere. The cost difference is less than $20 on a quality drive with 5 year warranty vs. this mystery meat.
Of course, I would change my tune if this were something like $60. Then I would buy multiple and have a fun RAID party.
Crucial MX500 1 TB... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077SF8KMG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Replaced my HDD to clicking sounds, managed to pick this drive up during a sale for £69, absolute bargain for the performance upgrade. Your problem sounds like it will be worth formatting drive before replacing. I had a spare 2tb hdd to transfer the files via USB, definitely worth it rather than download all your games again via the store, only do that if you're desperate! Other things worth doing whilst you're upgrading the to an SSD is to pick up some thermal paste and a can of compressed air. I was surprised to see after 3yrs use very little dust was inside the console. The thermal paste is to replace the factory stuff as after a few years use its definitely worth looking at. One more thing to consider is a small amount of thermal grease to quiet the fan down if it's audibly loud, though replacements are reasonably cheap these days coming in around £25, super easy to change.
SSD's for the previous base gen consoles only help with loading times marginally. You won't notice any performance increase tbh, especially with the PS4 and it's SATA II interface.
If you really want an SSD, don't go for the big name brands as you'll just be throwing your money away. If I had to recommend it would be the: Crucial MX500 series. Best bang for your buck. Highly rated and solid performance.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_5BYAMBC052VRSXQK3CT3
the exact listing of the crucial I bought.
Also the install took me less than 15 minutes. Prying open the back panel isn’t as bad as what people make it online. You can pop open a little bit with a small flat head carefully. Then use a credit card and follow the edges.
For ages, I just downloaded usenet and torrents right to my pool, no issues. I've just retired those drives and half of them have 7 years of power on time, the other half have 6 years. How are you killing a drive every 2 years?
Now my usenet and torrent downloads land on a small pool of Crucial MX500 1TB which have a very respectable 360 TBW. They're coming up on 2 years and have ~58T written w/o issue.
Your pick should work. That Mobo, per the manual, supports PCI-e M2 devices, so that product you linked should be just fine. Install it, initialize it in windows (if needed), format it and go on about your business. For a game drive, the PCI-E drives are less of a thrill. Testing a few games I play, load times were not noticeably faster from a 3rd gen SATA SSD (think of a performance 2014 model), compared to a decent performing NVMe drive like the one you linked, to a ramdisk. Game load times were.... about the same, give or take 5 seconds. Games on a spinning HDD were demolished, but not as night/day as putting them on a regular SATA SSD.
There's one more thing to consider, you put in that NVme drive and you will lose 2 SATA ports:
page 1-25: The SATA5 and SATA6 ports will be unavailable when installing a module in the M.2 port.
If I was dead set on a game drive, I'd save the $35 and just get a good 1TB SSD like the Crucial MX500 series.
Of course, the benefits to the M2/NVMe drive is no cables to run.
As for the heat output, mine is a boot-drive and it lives underneath my graphics card. I have no heatsink on mine and after 4-6hours of gaming, the drive might go 10C above idle, but well within the tolerances of the drive. Mine is pretty much worst case scenario; the drive only really heats up during extensive use which would not be typical for a game drive. If your case has good enough airflow, the addition of the M2 should be just fine; nothing to worry about with just the bare drive.
When it comes to storage, buy it from trusted source. Crucial MX500 series is good bang for your money https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-MX500-CT1000MX500SSD1-NAND-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1YO8EVRMV8BBY&dchild=1&keywords=crucial+mx500&qid=1607299989&s=computers&sprefix=Crucial+%2Caps%2C204&sr=1-1
Or Samsung Evo 860 series, if you want to burn more cash, but for SATA 3 speeds I wouldn't bother.
If you want SATA go for a crucial MX500, on sale right now for $121
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B077SF8KMG
If you want an NVMe, the WD Blue SN550 is often recommended, it will hit $125-130 or so often enogh, not sure where it's on sale right now though.
My PC used to do this when it had a slow harddrive. I replaced it with a fast Crucial MX500 SSD and it never does this anymore. I think it's an issue with slow harddrives and/or low amounts of RAM. I think TF2 can only allocate 2GB to 4GB of RAM, so after that fills up it starts loading data directly from the harddrive/SSD and I think it also starts using the pagefile (which is horrendously slow virtual memory.).
The same drive is $250 on Amazon. But as i said i'm gonna get years of use out of this drive it will maybe be usable inside or out with the PS5 when that comes out.
Looking at the Amazon page and judging from the comments section, this one seems to have Read: 700MB/s & Write: 800MB/s. Certainly not the fastest but not bad considering the size.
Sure thing. It is a german amazon-link but I think you can read all the necessary stuff from it:
Crucial MX500 CT1000MX500SSD1(Z) 1TB (3D NAND, SATA, 2,5 Zoll, Internes SSD)

Crucial MX500 is the drive you want to buy, then check for the size you want 500gb, 1000gb or even 2000gb. They need to be SATA and 2.5 Zoll build-in size. Not much to worry about besides that.

Good luck and enjoy if you gonna buy it!
$108 from amazon. Very reliable SSD (I have a 2TB MX500 in my PC). I wouldn't go any bigger than 1TB since the ps5 is coming (probably) next year. Just delete old games, or those you finished up. I know I'm getting one for my base ps4.
Worth it IMHO.
It's ~$5 less than 1TB MX500 (5y warranty), and that's only if you have an Amazon Prime Visa card for the 15% cash back, although tax is obviously charged pre-cashback so ad another $2-$3. It's a tough call, depends more on who is better re: warranty.
This one? Its currently $99 on amazon
Lots of options, what is your budget and what are you looking for (sata/nvme)?
I recently picked up this: Crucial MX500 1TB and no complaints
Ok... This one just popped up "$118.99" for prime day when I was browsing on Amazon ca.
You might need to be logged into a prime account to see it
My bad also because I assumed m.2. I have the 500gb version of this and it’s been going strong since 2014 or so. Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT1000MX500SSD1(Z) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7yHwFbFEHY6XR
Lol adding an SSD is probably the most simply thing you will do in the pc realm. That being said, moving your OS or windows over too it can be a pain in the ass for a novice who’s never done it. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube that show how to do is aswell as all of us on here that can walk you through it. I’m a visual learner so I get more out of watching someone do something then reading responses on here if they aren’t simple enough.
As far as an SSD goes, find one that has a memory cache on it like the mx500 I linked the 1T but there are other sizes too like 240 or 500gb. That being said you really only need enough space for your Windows OS and your favorite games.
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
Consider going with this SSD
Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD1(Z) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EGnpDb37X6SKW
Well reviewed and recommended. Same price for twice the storage and better speeds. Never heard of Intenso
mx500:
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/
You can get cheaper but they're either slower or less reliable for only a little less money.
You can get more expensive or theoretically faster but they're only a hair faster in real world use.
Thanks for letting me know! I appreciate it.
If I may ask one more thing, I'm a bit of a HDD noob. This SSD that I have, it's the Crucial MX500 Sata SSD (this one in particular). This will fit inside the 2.5inch HDD bay, correct? As in, this will connect right?
Sorry if this is a silly question. I just want to clear my conscious.
I would just get the Crucial mx500 1tb ssd instead of 2 different drives.
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/
Most people won't use over 1tb, and keeping everything on the ssd is much faster. Splitting drives up made sense when a 1tb drive was $500 but not so much we the cheaper prices we see today.
To really benefit from a 144hz monitor you want to be able to hit 144fps in your games. Depending on what games you'll play, you'll be able to do so with that build no problem. Some games might be more demanding. Also, if I were you, i'd drop the Hard Drive and go for an SSD,the difference is night and day. Since you're in the uk, here's an amazon link to the one I got.
MX500 will be slightly slower than 970 but I doubt you'll notice a bit difference. Unless you do professional rendering work or similar, there is really no reason to get a full tb of 970 when you can get quality SSD that works just as well for your application for $100-$120 a tb. What's the reason why you are thinking about going with 970 over 860 or similar?
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
Indeed it's a good combo, nobody would deny that.
But can I point out....
The 850EVO 500Gb you linked is $144.26. This is not perceptively faster than a 1TB MX500 which is $159.99 and double the size.
While I would agree that 500GB by itself is too small for a modern machine, most especially a gaming rig, I'd argue that 1TB is absolutely plenty to start with, and either a second SSD or a secondary HDD is pretty cheap to add.
For clarity of anybody reading: the Crucial one is here. The way Amazon shows the pricing is a bit annoying, but if you put the Crucial in your cart and go all the way to checkout the final price is $154.97.
500 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm, SATA3, 2.5" SELECTED 128 GB Solid State Drive, SATA3, 2.5"+ $15.00 256 GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0 M.2+ $202.00 512 GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0 M.2+ $339.00 1 TB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0 M.2+ $626.00
I mean, i would get the HDD first. Then purchase this. Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD1(Z) for $228.00 https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1527832219&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=1tb+ssd&psc=1
Im not so much worried about speed. Im more into value for money.
So i guess i could skip the MX150. And im getting the 14.0" WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS anti-glare. Will it has any bottleneck for the display? Any other stuff i need to take note of? Sorry this is my first purchase.
As for the ram, factory is slightly cheaper as compared to Amazon. And i think i wont be using that much ram. 8gb is fine.
And thank you so much for your comments, i really appreciate it and helped me a lot in decision making.
Meh. The new MX500 is out for $260. Better buy IMO.
There's also another page that has all of the options for this same SSD. That one, https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG , specifically has a (Z) at the end. When asked in one of the questions about it, the customer service rep said, " Thank you for contacting Crucial. The “Z” on our part numbers on Amazon signifies that your Crucial SSD will be shipped to you in Amazon Certified Frustration Free packaging. This packaging is easier to open and has less waste then typical retail packaging. You will still receive the same exact drive and all documentation, the packaging will just be different. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns on this so we can assist you further."
So basically, with this sale, they're charging $10 for packaging on that other link.
$90 on amazon as well. Don’t bother with Newegg if you don’t have to
It's been that price on Amazon since September 21. The M.2 version is actually cheaper at $199.99.
The mx 500 has been at that price for a while now and I consider that a better ssd.
That's rapidly changing, though. The cost of SSDs has dropped dramatically over just a few years. Here's a 1TB Crucial SSD for $118.99. Samsung 1TB for $147. Just a few years ago, 1TB SSDs were easily $300+ even from the cheapest brand.
Amazon has the same one for $96-- https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
The 2tb one is also on sale for $171 on Amazon and Newegg
If you rather not wait for Rakuten, Amazon has it for $179:
Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_bb6CBb9SRR1DQ
Its back...kind of. $153 on Prime Now. Checked a few major city zip codes and its either this price, sold out or no sale. YMMV
That treasure chest!
Have an Amazon Wishlist?
EDIT: If no Amazon Wishlist, we can work this out.
Added proper link to power supply.
Standard 2.5 inch version is also $154.99.
https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cPyrFb6TJ9A12
Amazon is selling the same for $3 more.
I'd say go for the Crucial mx500 1tb ssd. It's got dram, 40gb more, and just $10 more
Better reliability and marginally better NAND too, 100% should buy that instead
https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/
The model number on that is WD10EZEX and that’s a desktop class hard drive, so no it wouldn’t fit. Get this instead. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/
Same on Amazon for anyone interested: Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT1000MX500SSD1(Z) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DHZ58DTKAB008SNAA3S2
MX500 is still $120 on Amazon, zero reason to buy this. Performance is identical, 96l NAND on the MX500 is slightly better/more durable, not that it really matters
https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
Actually scrap that, on German Amazon it's for 127.41 EUR = 112.86 GBP
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B077SF8KMG/
It's a steal for this price
You can get the Crucial MX500 for $179 on Amazon Canada and the Samsung 860 Evo $220 on Amazon Canada. Also you could get the Crucial P1 which is an NVME SSD for $225.
No you do not. Just the usb for the OS loading and your good. Here is a link to the 1 tb I got for about 135 from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Get a different SSD, one with DRAM. Crucial MX500, or spend $20-30 more for nvme. The mx500 is actually cheaper than that price too while on sale today. All the good NVMEs had great deals for like $108 for a 1TB Adata SX8200 with 3500mb/s.
Edit: I'd suggest a good NVME with dram for $120 because in a year games may take advantage of Nvidia RTX IO so a NVME could speed load times immensely.
I generally use WD in my computers but I just did one with a Crutial MX 1TB and it was great. For my Playstation I used a Silicone Power because it was on sale and for games its mostly write once, read many so write speed is not as critical. Finally I have used the Microcenter house brand Inland SSDs for a few low stress builds.
Link here for those that want to go direct to it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077SF8KMG/
Crucial 1TB on Amazon for 120.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-MX500-CT1000MX500SSD1-Internal-NAND/dp/B077SF8KMG/
Considering how cheap they are, I'd go all the way to 1TB SSD. Crucial has them for about $120 on Amazon and, considering the Ableton usage, you'd probably need a lot of storage.

I've used the 16GB kit of RAM here with great success: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC3-12800-Unbuffered-SODIMM-204-Pin/dp/B007B5S52C/ref=sr_1_2?crid=S8HG5PUEGMRX&keywords=crucial+16gb+kit+2x8gb+ddr3l-1600+sodimm&qid=1559703238&s=gateway&sprefix=crucial+16+gb+%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-2

I previously had a 2012 and was running those two in it and it ran better than a lot of the newer Airs and felt like a road warrior tank of a machine.
JerkStoreJ doesn't even play the game judging by his comments ("From what I’ve read you may be able to get 10-15 hours of “content” as it is right now"), I have no idea why he's posting here, WTF there's WAY more than 10-15 hours of things to do in this game...
Take a look on Amazon for quick options, many SSDs to choose from, I'm using a 1TB Crucial I got on sale through Amazon and I only put SC on it while my C: is on a 1TB WD... but as long as you go with a reputable brand like Western Digital, Kingston, Sandisk, Intel or Crucial and get at least 500GB you'll be fine.
As far as game content, in my opinion this game has already implemented a wide variety of spaceflight, space combat and exploration gameplay elements on a scale never before achieved in any other game, and it's still only in Alpha and will be for at least another year.
To echo another post I made a while ago:
Currently, off the top of my head, these are the activity types you can do:
Built Into the Game for Pre-Set Reward Payment
Flying, with a little ground part sometimes, enemy AI ships may or may not oppose you
Ground/FPS, usually with flying to get to location and possiblykill defense turrets, enemy AI sometimes
Player-defined for random profit/loss/fun
The devs continue to expand this list, and improve the fidelity, variety and depth of many of them as well. Obviously there are many locations where you can accomplish these things, those will vary randomly in most cases based on which planet you're closest to (most of the time - sometimes they're cross-system).
Actual game-driven exploration will come soon, as will procedurally-generated cave exploration and a all-new location-relevant crime/justice system will begin implementation in the next Alpha 3.6 update scheduled for a few weeks from now. Also new ships and ship reworks/updates are constantly happening... in addition this game routinely has me amazed at the visuals, as I'm sure you're now familiar with thanks to all the screenshots that get posted here.
Now it's up to you if all of that constitutes a game "worth investing in at this point" but I'm in it nearly every night since I first invested 9 months ago, and I'm still never bored thanks to the activities I listed above and fun stuff my Org mates get together to do (seriously, join an org where there are at least 50 regular players, you'll always have a wingman or partner to fly with when you want to).
Any 2.5" SSD will be compatible. How much capacity (size) you get depends on how much storage space the programs you want to install will use and the amount and size of files you want to save. A 1TB SSD is the "sweet spot" in my opinion; plenty of capacity and not too expensive.
I recommend the following Crucial MX500 1TB 2.5" SSD for $109.
Here you are:
[Crucial 1TB MX500] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_4MzoFbTMMM3RD)
[Sabrent SSD Case] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NF6JQQ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_pOzoFb04JRY21)
As already pointed out, you're prob going to get limited/no traction at these prices - the ssd you can buy a brand new MX500 1tb for $115, updated RM850x for $159, memory brand new for $174, and the GPU brand new for $89. Can source everything even cheaper (aka vastly cheaper) by getting it here or another swap; $100 is 1tb nvme territory here
Maybe $350 for the whole thing with shipping if bought as a unit, but $800 puts someone at or over even a mid-grade i5-9600k/16gb/nvme/1660s
Just looking on Amazon, that particular SSD is £90 for 1Tb, £150 for 2Tb
https://www.amazon.in/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
Comes with DRAM and TLC too :)
I have it in a compact case, so in addition to the mentioned M.2 NVMe, its just the GPU and the one larger SSD plugged into one of the SATA ports.
Thanks for the advice. Do you think [this](amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG) is a good one?
Thanks for the advice. Do you think [this](amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG) is a good one?
As a secondary storage is it worth it to pay more for the samsung? $114 for crucial and $129 for the samsung.

Thanks again! Okay, here's the updated parts list then:

And here's what I ended up buying for the SSD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077SF8KMG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So I'll just wait till I get my tax refund and see if I can snag a 5600X for a cheaper price when I'm ready.
Stock cooler is good enough? Really?
Edit: My comment was in regards to the $150 price point, I am not saying whether the $80 price point is good or not.
This was on UK PC sales the other day. Bought one for the same purpose as what you have stated.

Not sure if Crucial charges tax, but this is same price on Amazon right now, prime ship + tax.
Noob here. I want to upgrade my M.2 NVME SSD (256gb!) - Use my PC 90% for Photoshop/Illustrator.
Am I better off upgrading the M.2 SSD and getting this

!!! BIG DISCLAIMER FOR THIS DISK (Kingston A2000) :
If you use this on a Linux box, you NEED to add a kernel parameter on boot or it's going to crap out on you. I blame the firmware, if I had known, I would have gotten a different one.
32GB RAM https://www.amazon.nl/gp/product/B01BGZEVHU

All in all I paid (350+125+60+65) 600 euros. It could be done a bit cheaper now, I guess, but I wanted enough time on the testnets so I bought it roughly 6 months ago.
Note that this setup works fine for me but these arre not endorsements, maybe there are better deals, maybe there's faster, more reliable RAM, I wouldn't know.
My only regret is the A2000 though.
The on-board NIC was not supported by the kernel I was running at the time, this has since been fixed.
It's this one exactly: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
It's supposed to have write speed around 500 Mbps, but during the download it was capped at 1 Mbps.

My bad, $129.99 was the cheapest Amazon offered MX500 (frustration free packaging). $133.99 with standard packaging.
Solid build, and I really don't think you can get any better than this, however, I do have some things that I'd personally change.
I would ditch the HDD and go full SSD, like this Adata or even a Crucial MX500. I have an old 840 Evo 500 GB with tons of games (including large ones like Assetto Corsa, Cities Skylines, Euro Truck Sim 2, PUBG etc.), videos, etc. on it and I still have at least 80 GB free.
To me, it doesn't make sense to waste money on an HDD that you wouldn't buy otherwise, and use that on another fast 250+ GB of fast SSD space. I used to play games from an HDD. It didn't work 5 years ago and it surely still doesn't work well today. It was not fun crashing into concrete barriers on ArmA because it took too long to load the asset from disk. On a budget like this you have to make sacrifices, and I'd sacrifice space for speed.
Besides that, I think the case could be cheaper, but it may require a sale, such as this case that is currently $17 cheaper than the current one.
Hell, even at that price, you could justify getting a 240 GB Adata and another 480 GB Adata for 720 GB of SSD space for cheaper than this current build, unless the user wants to up their budget a little bit to get something like a 1 TB Crucial MX500 that's currently $99 on amazon.
Besides that though, I don't think there's much you can do.
I got the Crucial MX500 1tb for 92$

I couldn't find a similarly priced m.2, could you link me one if you found one?
PSA: NOT ALL HARD DRIVES ARE EQUAL
Think SPACE (HDD) vs SPEED (SSD)
Here is a good video for comparisons.
4 TB of space will hold a lot of games, but a 1 TB SSD will change your gaming experience.
If you are looking at investing in an external drive look at SSDs first. Your load times will be cut by at least 30%. The Xbox one console load times are better with an external SSD connected with a USB 3.0 cord then the internal hard drive or an external HDD.
For $100 you can get a 1 TB SSD drive and case:
Sabrent 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 3.0
This is a great way to enhance your gaming experience as well as getting the extra storage you are looking for.
Sorry, it was a Crucial that I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077SF8KMG/
That Western Digital drive you linked is a mechanical drive, so the speed will be similar to the internal drive on your Xbox. A SSD will give you better speeds, but the cost is higher for the same capacity as a mechanical drive. If you want to save a few bucks, you can check Slickdeals for a better price on a 2.5" drive, mechanical or SSD.
I’d say maybe pick up a Crucial MX500. It has very similar performance to the 860 Evo (which is one of the best SATA SSDs) and it’s cheap.
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
An external can be used. That’s what many (including myself) do.
If you want it installed internally I don’t think Apple does that but I could be wrong. I’ve heard of a number of repair stores that work on Macs that do it for roughly $150 labor.
The rest of my comment will about using an external SSD since that’s what I have experience with.
Pretty much any SSD will work. If you’re doing it externally just make sure you pick the right interface for your I/O ports. On my 2019 I have two TB3 ports and four USB3 ports. I use both TB ports for additional monitors so I opted for an SSD that was SATA interface since USB3 is perfectly capable of supporting SATA speeds.
If any of that was confusing, don’t worry. Just buy any Sandisk, Samsung, Crucial, Western Digital SSD that’s designed for USB3.
As far as formatting it, once it’s connected you can either clone your internal drive to it using something like Carbon Copy Cloner or reboot into recovery mode and install macOS onto the new drive from there, setting it up as if it were a new computer.
I’ll post some links in a minute to the setup I use so you can get an idea of what to look for.
EDIT: here’s links to my setup. I bought the actual drive and enclosure separately just because there’s more options that way and I liked the clear case haha.

> kingston a400
Instead of the Kingstone A400 ($97.60), I recommend the Crucial MX500 ($103.49) which does have DRAM so you will not have to deal with a loss in performance.... unless of course that extra $5.89 means you will not be able to afford paying your rent / mortgage for the month.
I paid around $100 for a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD drive and I bought the Sabrent SATA to USB 3.0 cable a while ago. I’ve used the cable twice to clone HDD to SSD and have three MX500 SSDs, one 250gb and two 1TB in two separate machines with no problems at all.
I make no guarantees about them fixing the stutters. They are outstanding for boot/OS drives and perform well for me as such.

You should see a number that looks like this on the bottom. Need that number.

If you know for sure your laptop will take a 2.5" drive, then this will work. Your laptop should have an "NVMe M.2" boot drive as well.
QVO work well for media and games, but they are bad for write intensive work. You've probably picked the right one.
Compare with this solid competitor, but I have only Samsung and Intel myself. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=psdc_1292116011_t3_B07L3D19MY
As for an SSD this one is fine:
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
Or this one:
500 GB is cheaper but right now 1 TB is the sweet spot in my opinion. Enough storage without being too expensive.
One terabyte of SSD space goes for about $100 these days.
For SATA SSDs, a good option is the 1TB variant of the Crucial MX500 which costs $115. Slightly cheaper is the $100 Sandisk 1TB.
For NVMe SSDs, the Inland Premium 1TB is a good compromise between price and performance at $130.
Since this is older, I probably wouldn't sink a ton of money into it you. You could upgrade either the HDD to a SATA SSD...the cheapest route. Or you could upgrade the SSD...a bit more expensive route.
Any old 2.5" SATA SSD will work great to replace the HDD. On the cheaper side of things, you might want to look at Crucial. You'll also need a 2.5-3.5 adapter. Something like this.
To upgrade the SSD, look at Macsales/OWC.
In either of those cases, you'll have the new drive, and the remaining older drive (that was part of the Fusion drive) that you can use for whatever.
And lastly...the cheapest route. Just use as is. Make sure she's running a Time Machine backup. Then if it does fail, you can go with one of the routes above.
Good luck.
Crucials MX500 is a pretty good price for the performance.

You mean like this one : https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=crucial+mx500+1to&qid=1595067575&sr=8-3 ? Is is the right format?
Also, are Samsung SSD really better than the rest? I remember reading that a few years ago.
Thanks again.
You can replace the HDD with a 2.5" SSD (solid state drive). Don't know how long it takes your laptop to boot to the desktop, but with a SSD it should be possible to boot to the desktop within 20 seconds. The high read / write speeds of a SSD will make the laptop feel more responsive because programs will load and close faster. I generally recommend Crucial MX500 or WD Blue.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SBQMCX/ref=twister_B088S48G5J?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
Be aware that SSDs comes in two formats; 2.5" and m.2 (gumstick). If you do decide to install a SSD rather than buy a new laptop, then when you decide to buy a new laptop make sure it has a 2.5" drive bay if you want to re-use the SSD.

The laptop is pretty old so the thermal paste is likely drying up and has become less capable of transferring heat. I recommend you search youtube for a video on how to open up your laptop to get access to the heatsink. You will want to clean off all of the old thermal paste using 90%+ rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and lint free cloth (some people use coffee filters). Arctic MX-4 is relatively inexpensive and performs well.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to buy a new laptop, then I generally recommend you look for a laptop with a 6 core AMD Ryzen 5 4500u with a Vega 6 integrated graphics core. Integrated graphics performance has come a long way compared to the Intel HD 4000 in your laptop. One thing to be aware of is that new laptops in budget range will have relatively dim screen (about 250 nits) that is fine for using indoors and will have mediocre colors though good enough for the average consumer. I can't think of any particular Ryzen 5 4500u laptop that sticks out since I am not really in the market for a new laptop.
Linked below is a video of LoL being played on a laptop with a Ryzen 5 4500u. The frame rate is on the upper left side of the screen where it states "D3D9".
Our prices are usually higher than US prices. For comparison, a Crucial Mx500 1TB SSD at a local store is 6,900 pesos (or $142 US). The same product at Amazon sells for $109. Even with the $15 shipping to the Philippines, it's still cheaper than getting the product from a local store.
The weird thing is, we're right next to Taiwan, so in theory our prices should be lower, as opposed to me buying from a US storefront then having it shipped all the way back to Asia.
$1 cheaper on Amazon right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/
Either way I got it from Newegg 2 weeks ago for $98.49 ($103.49 - $5.00) + tax
If you're looking for a SATA SSD The Crucial MX500 or the SK Hynix Gold S31 at Amazon are a decent choice.
If you're like me and prefer Amazon, it's ~115 there (Not showing as on sale) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_M0H6EbHMEYK6W

Why are you pairing a second-gen Ryzen chip (2700X) with a X570 board? It's not that it won't work, it's just a waste of money. A 2700X won't be able to take advantage of PCIe 4.0 support that comes with the X570 chipset. Either get a Ryzen 3000-series chip and keep the board if you need PCIe 4.0 support, or keep the 2700X and get a B450/X470 board.
Are you absolutely sure you want to run two cards in SLI? Many games can't take advantage of it. If yes, then you need a X470 (or X570; see above) board instead of B450, since B450 doesn't support SLI.
A Crucial MX500 will perform just as well as a Samsung 860 Evo. It's currently on sale on Amazon for $100.
Do you absolutely need a Samsung 970 Evo as a boot drive? There are cheaper NVMe drives that perform just as well. (SSD Buying Guide with flow chart)
If you're not going to do SLI, 850W for a power supply is overkill. Drop down to a quality 650-750W unit.

Don't trust Speccy to tell you anything useful about your system. Use HWMonitor for more accurate readings of everything in your system or MSI Afterburner for your just GPU. (Don't mess with the settings if you don't know what you're doing)
As for your drive sitting at 100%.. You're running a Hard Disk Drive, swap it out for an SSD and you'll be dandy. This one should suffice.

Um, I would recommend the MX500 SSD's from Crucial. They are reliable and fast for a low price.
Getting just one big SSD will be actually less costly than getting two separate ones for the MX500 SSD (1tb @ $107.89 while getting two 500gb SSDs is @ $64.50x2).
Also, getting just one larger SSD compared to getting two separate ones will lead to less cables which = less cable management.
Here's the link to the 1tb MX500 SSD: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
I don't think there are any common gaming cases where your GPU and storage are dependent on each other. You can't really storage-bottleneck your graphics card.
Of note, the drive you linked does use the m.2 slot, but has SATA speeds, not NVMe speeds. m.2 just refers to the physical connector, not the interface or speed it uses. You will be just as happy with that drive as with a traditional 2.5 inch SATA drive ( e.g., https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG ) at the same price. The main difference between those two drives is how you attach it to the MOBO. This drive (https://www.newegg.com/hp-ex920-512gb/p/N82E16820326779?Description=hp%20ex920&cm_re=hp_ex920-_-20-326-779-_-Product ) is an m.2 NVMe drive and theoretically will outperform both of the other two drives, though for standard gaming, you might never ever notice a difference between any of these 3. Given that they're all the same price, I'd buy the EX920.
There is no model number for the laptop so I can search for the specific specs to see if it has a m.2 port for a "gum stick" SSD. Therefore, I will assume the only SSD you can install is a 2.5" SSD which means you need to remove the hard drive.
Here's an example:
At this point, you might as well just spend ~$100 on a 1TB SSD. For example, the MX500 and Inland Premium both sell for about that price.
(I know you're in Europe -- convert accordingly.)
That’s sketchy. I wouldn’t touch that deal with a 10 meter pole. Honestly just buy a crucial mx500. $107 for a 1 TB new. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG

I misread too! There’s no r7 laptop I think. I mean if it’s a desktop you’ve got space no need to replace just add on more. Leave the Hard drive for stuff like Microsoft word or other programs that don’t need performance stuff, files etc movies, music. & get yourself a nice SSD for internal stuff.
The drives are cheaper now than before so having your games and stuff like photoshop etc on an SSD is worth it now and doable. I ditched HDD’s last year & continue to do so in my laptop. I load first into almost every multiplayer game when switching maps & my load times are low for games.
You can do 2.5” drives forsure in yours you might need to order a sata cable though.

It doesn't look bad but i recommend this instead
You can buy the Crucial MX500 with the same capacity for 100$ less on Amazon with similar performance. It's just Best Buy price gouging here.
I use the Crucial MX500 1TB, its an internal SSD.

I've literally never had an issue with it.
Buy it through prime now if you can: https://primenow.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG?qid=1531828484&m=A1VSX2DW2JK3S3&sr=1-2&ref_=pn_sr_sg_2_img_A1VSX2DW2JK3S3
Its listed at $153 and if you use promo code "20primeday" you get $10 off this purchase, plus $10 off your next prime now purchase.
Total= $143
Does your laptop have a SATA II or SATA III interface? Google your model number to find that out first
IF its SATA II, then there's no point in upgrading to an SSD, the gains will be minimal
IF its SATA III, then just order a SATA III SSD (https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG as an example)
Create a bootable windows 10 USB stick using Rufus.
Look up online how to open up your laptop, guides to replace hard disks are available for almost any model out there
Replacing the drive is pretty straight forward (detach the main pin, unscrew a couple of screws, replace)
Reboot into BIOS and choose your USB stick to boot from
Install Windows on the new SSD. The activation is tied to your account and digital signature from your laptop (I don't understand the details fully), once you login, windows should be activated. Replacing your hard disk doesn't change activation status
You should be good to go
It's 135 on Amazon as well with prime Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD1(Z) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SF8KMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UAqpCb8Z2WHW4
Whats the lowest you'd take? $100?
How much you paid? I ended up with a shitty Seagate/Western Digital 4TB HDD that had to have its index rebuilt several times already so ready to swap it out.
Also I googled that model and Amazon only returned what looked like an internal drive (I have left my internal drive alone and only changing the external one). How did you connect it externally (sorry not that good with hardware)?
https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG
Technically fits if you don't care about sata and 2.5".
I don't think you'll find an nvme TLC with dram for $90, but I think if you're going for a 665p you're not looking for the best performer.
