Deal of the day for Prime Members: Crucial X8 1TB Portable SSD – Up to 1050MB/s – USB 3.2 – External Solid State Drive, USB-C, USB-A – CT1000X8SSD9 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YD5TK4F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_A2JPW0525EK8YQ70X3P0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here is a 1TB ssd! $94
You will be forced to use an external SSD as your model MacBook Pro (2017) does not support internal SSD upgrades. Regarding your WD passport: you could reformat it in disk utility and press do not use as time machine backup when the pop up presents itself...... If you want to buy a new external SSD, Crucial X8 is the bees knees.
How about this one? The LaCie one they suggested no longer available and I promise this will be my last question :)

If you go with the S you can just get an external SSD. It takes only a few minutes to swap a game onto the internal drive, if it needs to be played from there. How many games do you play at one time anyway?
Even if you got the X, you're only looking at a couple of extra games you can have on the internal, when you account for the size differences. You would almost certainly need extra storage there too.
Personally I have the S, mainly because I was all digital on the Xbox One and so don't have any need for the disc drive.
I got one of these for extend storage link. If I've filled up that and the internal, it's because I've got a load of games downloaded which aren't going to be played any time soon, so they can just be deleted, then downloaded again if I feel the itch. I've also got fast broadband, so downloading again isn't a massive inconvenience.
It's a tough decision though and you need to make the right one for you. It is sounding like you might regret not going for the larger internal storage, so maybe the X is right for you. Just wanted to give my usage experience.
I thought I'd check exactly what I've got on my internal. At the moment, I have 14 games on there and it's at 71% capacity. No beasts like COD but it will give you some idea of what you can have.
Forza Horizon 4, Forza Motorsport 7, FIFA 21, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Rayman Legends, Resident Evil Village demo, Tetris Effect, Cuphead, Galaga, Pac Man. And for the kids, Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.
Absolutely. I got a 1TB USB C SSD with a transfer speed of over 1GBps. It’s amazing to have. Not sure what country you’re in but this is the one I got.. save to wish list and wait for it to drop. I paid £60 less than it’s currently advertised for 2 weeks ago. link
Look for a drive that’s NVME not SATA, and check transfer speeds.
I asked you guys about SSDs earlier for my PS5.
I ended up getting this. Good bang for your buck.

I personally use crucial X8 (512GB), but you can get 1TB for $134, or 2TB for $239, its also USB-C on both the ends, really fast speeds, amazing build quality, works with both macOS and windows, 3 years warranty
link to crucial X8 on amazon- https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-1TB-Portable-SSD-USB/dp/B07YD5TK4F , only 1 catch is that it get really hot when u use it for the first time, I've used mine for almost a year and overheating is a extinct issue, only time it overheats is when you download pirated games, especially the fitgit repacks

I've had this since getting my PS5 as well. It's such a pain, I have to fully turn off my PS5 and can't use rest mode at all. It sucks because I used to use it all the time on my PS4 with no problems.
I'm using a 1TB SSD from Corsair - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YD5TK4F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I
I truly appreciate everyone's input! So far I am debating between an external 1tb SSD drive (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YD5TK4F) or hhd for the same price but for 5tb (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VNTFHD5).
I recently bought a external SSD (1) for spare storage and extra gaming space. You could possibly store windows on it but it's pretty much external so accidental pull out of the usb would possibly causes a issue (I never tested it but it doesn't sound good).
Otherwise you can go internal, (2) has the crucial website that has compatible RAM and SSDs for ASUS tuf 505 series.
I have never cloned a hdd before but I will actually look into that myself one day.
Lastly, ram increase causes a improved stability in gaming performance and usually give you an extra 3 - 5 fps boost, also less likely to hit 100% ram if that's an issue for you. (can causes stuttering in games, very rare. More likely your gpu will cause stuttering)
Extra RAM isn't really essential but you can buy it if you need it. Tbh I have 8gb and it's fine but even when idle with discord, chrome on. It uses basically half of ram doing nothing.
Make sure to buy RAM that is DDR4 and has the same memory speed as your current RAM otherwise your current RAM will lower it's speeds to equal your new ram.
Either buy a 2x pack or buy similar ram with the same memory speed, DDR and voltage.
That's pretty much it. Thanks for reading

Can confirm I am using a 1TB SSD drive with no issues, and I had a 6TB USB 3.0 before this that did have issues.
However, I got this drive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YD5TK4F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Interesting. I had been using an exernal HDD with its own power supply and wasn't having issues with it. Maybe depends on the brand?
My SSD is a Crucial X8 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YD5TK4F
External SSD partition is incompatible with eGPU as the computer needs to reallocate the bandwidth when it is hooked up.*
You'll want to have a small internal Bootcamp partition and an external SSD for games.
eGPU enclosure and card depends of budget. I have:
-Razer Core X Chroma with Asus GTX 2080
They are but I found a good solution for non X|S to have similar speeds via usb
