Idk what exactly a wifi card is but this is the link to the pc that I have, i’m very inexperienced when it comes to this https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=cyberpowerpc&qid=1605747227&sr=8-1
haha sorry about that i’m inexperienced or I wouldn’t be here. it’s a meh cyberpower pc I got off of amazon a couple months ago and just decided to set up today. I’m connected through wireless to a linksys router which is on the second floor and i’m on the first. https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=cyberpowerpc&qid=1605747227&sr=8-1
Who woulda thought the Quest would encourage those to switch to tethered PC VR gaming.
To your question, if you can squeeze the extra dough, get at least a RX 580 or higher gpu (570 is min spec for Rift).
Heres a Cyberpowerpc offered on Amazon offers a lot more gaming potential than your walmart PC, for $729.
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Windows 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qBITDbTPXYTP8
Ok the pc includes Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home. Since its a prebuilt here's the amazon link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdo_t1_1cw4Db6VMM8AS. The exact problem I'm having is slow download speeds (3 mbs) compared to something such as my xbox (115 mbs).
I was suggested this https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=cyberpower+gamer+xtreme&qid=1601843856&sprefix=cyberpower+gamer+&sr=8-4 a month or so ago, it works very well and gets 100 FPS on destiny 2 with ease, it is well worth the 750$
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SLAwFbXAA9758 This is the build If it helps
This is the PC I was thinking of, I’m not looking to play call of duty or anything on it, just fun grand strategy games
Just a little bit of info: you may not be able to run some AAA games that are coming in the next couple of years due to graphics improvements.
That being said, CyberPower has pretty good PCs for the price, out of all the prebuilt brands. Only thing is that they usually ship directly from their website rather than Amazon.
This is a good choice, only issue would be the ram, which is an easy upgrade. 8gb is a little low, 12 or 16gb would be more prepared for games.
Well, if you are gonna play other games on it (and sooner or later you will), I’ll tell you my story. I had several notebooks and pc in a lifespan of 10yrs, but mostly second hand (macbooks) or low price (Lenovo, IBM, Asus, Dell) ones. I was never satisfied with their perfomance and invested up to 400-500 bucks per piece. Then I decided I had enough of the issues and bought a gaming PC for around 2700 bucks, including monitor, keyboard and mouse. This is the setup from 11/2017:
Battlebox GTX1080Ti Overlocked
Graphic card: Asus ROG STRIX GAMING GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11 GB
Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K
Motherbord: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-F GAMING
Memory G.SKILL 32 GB KIT DDR4 3 200 MHz CL15 Trident Z RGB
SSD Samsung 960 EVO 500 GB
HDD WD Red 3 TB
Cooler NZXT Kraken X52
Power source Seasonic Focus Plus 750 Gold
Casing PHANTEKS Eclipse P400S Tempered Whitr
I run the game on highest settings with 130-160 FPS and 27inch 1444p but even in the lowest settings the picture is quite good. What I wanted to say is that I would rather invest few hundred bucks more in order to get a PC that can run games in 2024-25 and the only thing you would maybe have to change after that is graphic card by then.
I have no idea what the sellers are offering in Canada, so I have gone through Amazon offers and would go into something like this:
https://www.amazon.ca/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-Gaming-i5-9400F-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4
This one is nice. Lots of people seem to be spending their $1200 stimulus check on PCs because they have been selling out pretty quickly on Amazon. The PC linked has RGB but not water cooling. Don't know if you really need water cooling unless you are pushing the system hard and overclocking, but I could be wrong.
Cyberpowerpc on Amazon has some good builds that serve as a base that you can upgrade later down the road (that's what I did)
Heres a good example
$750 - CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4
Look, your 2500 dollar PC might be having some kind of issues if you’re not seeing a major difference. Or maybe you aren’t using a high refresh monitor? Consoles are certainly not locked at 60fps. The vast majority of games are still running at 30fps on Xbox and ps4.
It’s definitely getting better, but an 800 dollar PC from amazon will still crush a gaming console.
They are definitely getting closer, and I truly look forward to the day when I can buy a console and plug a mouse and keyboard into it and play whatever shooter I want at 144hz. I’m a mac guy for work. I hate having to own a PC just for games.
But to act like a console will give a similar gaming experience is pretty disingenuous.
I was looking at this one CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz,8GB DDR4,WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KOj7DbSZ0EBHT Or may just look at Craigslist
It has 1 bad review and you can always return it if you have problems..
Anyway, if reviews bother you - get this one, it's still better than Alienware, and $90 cheaper.
This deal is much better for way cheaper
just add another stick of 1x8 ram to make it 16 and duel channel and you're set
Just based on what you were saying would this be an ideal pick then?

$650 for a GTX 1650

How's this compared to it?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vL5uFbA0D0QW3
There's also a decent one for $650
I cried a little bit when I saw the 570.
I built you an alternative https://pcpartpicker.com/list/j7ywn7
First off, you have a decent build. The thing is, you included the B450, an overclockable motherboard on a build that you will probably not overclock. It’s better to get a cheaper motherboard that does the web surfing, streaming, and a bit of gaming well. The build I have provided is similar, a little more expensive, but it runs a better graphics card and a better case AND a better power supply.
Windows 10 you can get for free, it’s not really that much of a problem, so you can pay for it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
If you’re looking cheaper, I would recommend a pre-built. You simply are over-paying for something you will not be doing intensive tasks on.
I recommend
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9hXfFbPFA289P
I know I’m gonna get hate for recommending a pre-build on a PC build subreddit, but I believe you’re buying a sword when a knife will do the job just fine.
This does not have a Ryzen 5 3600 unfortunately, but the i5 9400F is still a decent CPU. If you’d like you can take the i5 out, sell it, and spend $20 as well as the $150 you’d made on the i5 to get a 3600.
It has a GeForce GTX 1660 which is quite better than the AMD you had in your build.
It has some motherboard, I forgot the name, but it is not overclockable, but it does gets the job done. I think it was B350? B360? I don’t remember.
It’s got 8 GB of memory which makes me sad, but this is easily upgradeable if you just buy more RAM.
It’s got 240 GB SSD and 1T HDD storage. This is more than enough, BUT if it isn’t, you can buy more SSD.
The case does not have the best airflow, but it is heaps and bounds better than that $36 case is. I don’t even know what that case was, but I can already tell it’s absolute dog shit by the price tag.
It does have some obscure Chinese power supply, but I’m pretty sure the PC comes with a warranty, so you should be fine. If you want to, you can upgrade this as well.
It also has Windows 10 already so no need to worry about that.
It also looks way better than that case that you were buying. IMO. well, I’m everybody’s opinion I believe.
it’s out of stock now, but it will be in stock soon with a $750 price tag. You can even score it on Cyber Monday/Black Friday for $550 which is an absolute STEAL.
I've been looking a bit on Amazon, and what do you think of this one? https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=computer+gaming&qid=1597294673&sr=8-4
While most pre-builds come with windows installed they also have lots of bloatware installed, you can somewhat remove them but reinstalling windows makes sense.
If you really are looking for a gaming PC, we recommend no laptop, just no. A cheap used Lenovo Laptop is a good workstation but gaming in this price range is not possible on laptops.
I checked best buy since they have some decent offers but seems like everything in the price range is sold out... like this one

I checked the main resellers like maingear, ibuypower, cyberpowerpc, originspc but somehow they all start at 1000$ ...
On amazon I saw nothing but this one: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=gaming+pc&qid=1592854727&sr=8-1
which is a great PC for the price but over budget
ibuypower offers some lower budget ones, this is the cheapest
https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gaming-RDY-EMRBG202
All in all good PC BUT for a decent gaming pc you will need to invest in a SSD; a PNY CS900 240gb will cost another 30$ but is totally worth it and installing is rather easy - if the prebuilt has the necessary cables
Optimal I'm looking for something like AMD Ryzen 3 3100/3200 or i5 9400, 250 - 500 gb NVMe SSD, Geforce 1660 or Vega 64/56 but seems like that's impossible in prebuilts

Also try the correct subreddit r/suggestapc/ : )
It probably doesn't have a power supply strong enough to support a more powerful gpu. On top of that, pre-built desktops like that generally don't have much room to upgrade the parts inside. If you're on a budget, your best bet is to buy a pre-built gaming pc, it should suit your needs and also allow you to upgrade in the future.
A quick search found me this: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4
I'm not an expert on budget PCs but you should be able to find something if you go to Amazon and search "budget gaming pc"
What about this one? Seems to be a little more powerful
Almost every manufacturer of prebuilts uses tiered parts from Corsair, HyperX, MSI, etc. it is rarely if ever better to build your own at the $600-800 price range. Sales on Amazon, Best Buy, etc you can get a great prebuilt that actually includes windows 10 - which everyone always leaves out acting as if the $120~ on average isn’t a a required spend because they pirate it.
Example:
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ol3pEbF9ATQDA
$749.99
Pcprtpicker built system using the absolute cheapest parts:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mPJBGc
$706.99 with several mail-in rebates that take time and money to get back.
You’re saving $40~ with the added worry of fucking things up. This isn’t even counting the sale prices these machines are constantly on. This particular one was $500 on Black Friday, it’s built with ASRock, Crucial Ram and parts that aren’t subpar.
I found these 2, but for the life of me I couldn't find one with 16GB or RAM.
$710 - CYBERPOWERPC - i5-9400F, B360, GTX 1660, 8GB (1x8GB, 2400), 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi
$660 - SkyTech - Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1660, 8GB (1x8GB, 3000), 500G SSD, WiFi
I'm leaning towards the Ryzen pc. I like the faster memory, and while it has less storage, I personally would prefer the larger 500GB SSD over an 240GB SSD + 1TB HDD combo.
One thing to also keep in mind is that it is a single stick of memory. Having 8GB of RAM in dual channel (2 sticks that are 4GB each) is better than single channel (1 stick that is 8GB), but having a single 8GB stick means that in the future, if you do decide to upgrade to 16GB, you will be able to run the most ideal RAM setup for gaming (2 sticks that are 8GB each)

For reference:
1 stick of RAM that is 8GB 3000 would cost around $30-40. It's a large margin cause ideally you want to buy the same model that is in your current rig so they match. While it isn't required, running RAM at the same speed and latency (and same DRAM cache modules) is ideal.
1-2TB HDDs are around $30-50

Both of these are also very easy to install.
Check out these sites for advise on building a PC on a specific budget, and shop around current black friday / Cyber Monday deals new PCs, you can do much better:
https://wccftech.com/pc-builder/
https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4
Good value for $750. Could use more RAM eventually, but it's fine, and RAM is cheap. But I got the feeling you're not interested in something cheaper, but rather higher end.

This isn't too bad. Good hard drive space. Better GPU, but slightly lower end CPU than $999 one

Overkill. Slightly better than what you were about to build on the NZXT site, but $200-$300 less.
It's on facebook marketplace (person recently got it but wants laptop), so it's local. Here's the amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4
Your Pcpartpicker is okay but if you don't want to build one this is better - CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, WiFi Ready & Win 10 Home (GXiVR8060A8, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_2Ht4DbET449BG but if you do want to build your own go for this one https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/rgj48d/modest-amd-gaming-build

This build is super solid and a great deal for just over $700. I'd highly recommend it. Spec for spec you are not going to beat this for the price. Plus it's already built.
