I've been sleeping on a floor bed for years and I will never go back. Way cheaper and more portable than a traditional bed frame, box spring, and mattress. It's better for your body too and I sleep much better on the floor. Also I love that I can just roll it up and have all of my floorspace to use for yoga. 10/10. I have this one in the queen size: [link]
I've slept for a long time on this futon on the floor. I rolled it up and then stored it in the closet most days, but if you're going to do that you either need to remove the sheets each time or use a cheap duvet cover instead of a fitted sheet (my preferred method cause I'm lazy).
Personally I don't mind the getting up off the floor and actually like what it's done both for my hip flexibility and my back (I tend to sit on the floor most of the time at this point anyway). However if you're a side sleeper I'd recommend getting a mattress topper at least until you get used to the much thinner bedding.
I moved back in the beginning of July and bought this “mattress” and let me tell you, the first few nights I was like what. Have. I. Done. Then, before I knew it, I adjusted and it didn’t feel at all firm or uncomfortable. I actually visited my parents recently (where I lived before I moved) and slept on my old bed, and I swore that they had switched out the mattress on me bc it just felt so ridiculously soft and plush after I had become accustomed to me new bed.
This is ~$100.
Put away $1 a day and you could have it in 3 months.
I slept on an air mattress for about 9 months. Would not recommend. Damn thing is always deflated by morning.
I've been using a Japanese floor futon mattress. It's comfortable and I dig the all-black aesthetic. $95 from Amazon: [link].
I use this but in queen size. [link]
Back doesn't hurt in the mornings anymore.
Extra firm love it
