I saw that you mentioned a Glock, so I'm gonna suggest you pick up the Glock 44. Literally the same gun, afaik, but it's chambered in .22lr. Reasoning: the 44 becomes your training gun as .22lr is a lot cheaper to feed than 9mm. Also, .22lr is a ton of fun and a very practical round; though I would not suggest it for self-defense.
Also, get yourself some d-lead wipes. Shooting is fun, lead poisoning is not.
I wouldn't go overboard and wear a full face mask or anything. But one of the things I learned (which surprised me) is that regular hand soap DOESN'T clean residual lead off of your skin. Some companies however do make special soaps and wipes which can. I ordered myself this stuff from Amazon, as an example.
There are wipes specifically for removing lead from your hands.

I use these after shooting

This! I grabbed a pack of D-Lead towelettes for quick hand scrubbing after shooting. I forget them at home more than half the time but they're absolutely a thing.
