As others have suggested, check with the librarian at DPL and also Tattered Cover, but here are a few thoughts - caveat, I'm guessing these won't be terribly easy to find, but I do expect the library will have them:
https://www.amazon.com/Denver-Comes-Age-Postwar-Photography/dp/1555661157 This is one of my favorite books. It's mostly photos and anecdotes, so easy to digest, but really fascinating.
https://www.amazon.com/Wellington-Webb-Making-Modern-Denver/dp/1555916341 I worked for Mayor Webb for a few years, and his tenure was during a really interesting time in Denver.
https://www.amazon.com/Make-Mayor-Deborah-Tucker/dp/0819199184 This is mostly about Mayor Webb's creative first mayoral campaign.
I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking about, but those were top of mind.
And while it's not comprehensive about Denver specifically, if you haven't read On The Road by Jack Kerouac, it spends a decent portion of the book on the time he spent in Denver and offers some great color of what Denver was like in the late 40's, including visiting some places that still exist today.
Hope that helps!
Sorry, was trying to link to the DPL site for the book. But it's called Denver Comes of Age: https://www.amazon.com/Denver-Comes-Age-Postwar-Photography/dp/1555661157
This is one of my favorite books.
It's mostly photos with some accompanying text and covers only the post-war period, but I found it fascinating, and photos always help put me better in touch with history.
