The Taken King: Legendary Edition is on sale on Amazon for $28.13 right now, this edition includes Destiny, The Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King. You can also still buy it digitally from Amazon but it's a full $60 so I wouldn't recommend that option.
However since Rise of Iron releases in a month and is $30 by itself you're still probably better off just buying The Collection unless you really want to wait a month before spending more money.
~~Earlier I saw the base game, expansions 1 and 2, The Taken King and Rise of Iron (? The newest one) bundled together for $40-60.~~
~~This doesn't have the latest, but everything else can be had on Amazon for $25. link~~
Edit: Oh, I see what you mean. Nevermind. Not too bad a deal, now that destiny 2's coming out in a year, to get the complete edition. Of course I'd need a console for that, first.
I bought the legendary edition the other day, unaware that a new expansion was dropping so soon. Was there a different version I should have got, or just waited? Should I even worry about RoI content for a while since I'm brand new anyway?
I'm pretty sure it's new and physical here is the link
It's on offer because I have a Amazon Prime user
I'd recommend Destiny TTK Legendary Edition, which covers ALL the current DLC (https://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Taken-King-Legendary-PlayStation-4/dp/B00ZJ20YQO) and is only $27. This is a great time to jump back in as we have about 7 weeks before another major DLC - "Rise of Iron" coming out on September 20th.
Sorry if this isn't the sort of question intended for this thread, but I've searched and searched and haven't been able to find an answer.
My friend and I own the original Destiny game as well as the first two expansions. We haven't played for months, but are interested in coming back now to check out the new content in The Taken King. It looks like the cheapest way of acquiring TKK would be to buy the physical legendary edition (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZJ20YQO/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza) which is $35, but this has a lot of duplicate content for us. I'm just wondering if there are any issues upgrading to TKK going this route. Will all of our save data (characters, weapons, etc.) remain intact if we essentially re-buy everything that came before TKK?
It seems crazy that the standalone digital upgrade for TKK is $40 and this entire legendary package is only $35, but if this is viable path to getting the expansion, then we'll happily save the $5.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I bought this for my brother. It was $29.99 December 14th only. Now I can finally get all that Refer-A-Friend shit. I'm pretty stoked to start all over with him.
This. Buy the "Legendary Edition" (Amazon link, for cover reference) since it includes both the base game (with expansions) and the Taken King expansion.
Here is the thing you should buy if you want to continue playing Destiny. It includes 100% of the content available to date and is currently $50.
Without The Taken King, you will hit a wall shortly after you reach level 34. It sucks, but that's where we are.
Don't be sorry about the paragraph, I appreciate it! Your description helps me feel like the game can be enjoyed both casually and competitively.
Also, how much DLC is there? this amazon link makes it seem like I can buy this edition and have all the DLC? Or is the DLC separate from the expansions?
Thanks for taking the time to answer!
$50 from amazon, free shipping. Dunno if it's cheaper anywhere else, assuming you're US.
That's all current content.
It's true, I just checked. The page defaults to a third party seller that's fulfilled by amazon. This page is the one sold by Amazon directly, and it has the prime discount at checkout.
Have you tried Amazon digital code? I see they only have the Digital Collectors edition.
Where are you looking? http://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Taken-King-Legendary-PlayStation-4/dp/B00ZJ20YQO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442448170&sr=8-1&keywords=destiny+the+taken+king
Contents include: Destiny Base Game, Expansion I, Expansion II, and The Taken King
Last line of description.
What if you buy the $80 digital edition, like for example off of Amazon? Do I have to wait until Sept. 15 to play the first 2 expansions (TDB and HoW)?
Edit: Someone else answered my question, thank you for your time!
It includes The Dark Below and House of Wolves, but doesn't include The Taken King which will set you back another $40. You'll be paying $75 for all the expansion content.
You can get The Legendary Edition for $60, which includes TDB, HoW and TTK.
Well I don't feel right telling you what to do with your money, but I have played the hell out of this game almost 50 days of playtime. I have bought the DLC's separately, and I can honestly say it was worth it. The game definitely throws a lot at you so I wouldnt jump into TTK in order to get the full experience. But the way the game is going, most people skip the old content and move into the new stuff which is kinda sad. All I can say is take your time, and dont get too frustrated with RNG. The game is definitely fun, and finding a few friends along the way will make this game even better. Those $80 dollars are worth it imo, but thats only if you want the shiny cosmetics, there is a $60 dollar value for everything but the add-on content which can be bought seperately when the time is right.
It's reasonable as long as Bungie can make a profit on the number of steelbooks and strange coins created for the limited package, and it's fair as long as that money serves to pay for networking and coders as well.
What you are seeing with emotes on the digital edition is the kind of "luxury content" that is used to subsidize the rest of the service.
Also: $60 physical edition with how, tdb and tkk.
I've heard Destiny 2 has lost it's momentum from the first game. Why spend $30 on the base game or $53 on the base + season pass when they will likely release something along the lines of The Taken King edition and Rise of Iron edition/Collection?
>The problem for me is, I don't want to buy the shitty, low effort DLCs peddled out this year just to be able to play Forsaken.
We are going to find out more in the TWAB this week, but I'm betting that another one of these will be coming out closer to September for players like you. You'll probably end up paying $60 for another disc with codes for every DLC that way, but it's still more cost effective than the $80-$115 you'd have to pay without it (assuming you don't own CoO or Warmind).
Very doubtful honestly. I've been keeping a close eye on sales for Destiny 2's DLC and it's never happened. Either the base game is the only one that goes on sale, or sites with voucher codes (e.g. GreenManGaming always excluide Destiny 2's DLC as an option for using the discount.
There could potentially be a sale on the season pass as we approach the September expansion? Maybe? It's more likely that they'll put a new version of Destiny 2 on sale in December which has the base game, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and the September expansion all bundled into one (much like the Legendary edition of Destiny: The Taken King and Destiny: The Collection) I honestly don't know though.
Also, you double-posted your comment.
The Legendary Edition includes vanilla Destiny. Read description at: https://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Taken-King-Legendary-PlayStation-4/dp/B00ZJ20YQO#productDescription_secondary_view_div_1476565699670
says on amazon it was 60$ now 40$. http://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Taken-King-Legendary-Edition-PlayStation/dp/B00ZJ20YQO
37$ with Amazon Prime. Point being, you can find it for less than 50$ at many different locations aside from your PS4 store.
> because I honestly would not pay $70 for a single DLC
Just a heads-up, it's on sale for $33 today.
Oh, this might be the way to go:
Content wise, hell no. Those class items really helped when they were relevant. Cost wise, fuck you bungie. I paid $60 for just the digital collectors edition.
If you feel I deserve something nice. :)
PS Store $60
You're thinking of the collector's edition, which is $80.
I agree that their pricing structure seemed a little off. They must have done some research and decided that the group of people who owned Vanilla but not the expansions and would potentially come back was very small. But, $20 more than TTK to get both the y1 expansions is not the worst deal ever, even if he is technically buying vanilla again unnecessarily. Vanilla sells for peanuts now, so it's hard to assign value to already owning it.
I definitely see why you think free would work better. I wish they had done what the minor expansions did and left the base game active. Only content you were locked out of was the expansion content. So, you could buy TTK and just not be able to do HoW missions or PoE. Trials? Might have to be included with TTK since it is being moved forward.
So that one?
I swear I saw it on sale for like $40 somewhere, maybe it was only the TTK, I'm looking for it all.
You need both expansions to play TTK. You can buy Destiny with the first 2 expansions and TTK for only $60.
I bought this and already own the original destiny game as well as the dlc. Can I collect the extra content still? Should I return it?
I see the full version of Desinty at $60 here. Maybe I got the expansions messed up since I never bought them. The fact that the game is being resold as "2.0" for the same thing is however bullshit.
So you're OK with a company walling the content you paid for behind a purchase of a 3rd party product? You're really cool with the company you're buying things from openly stating That customers are used to paying a premium for the DLC they split from the main game. If you keep giving in to this kind of shitty marketing it can only get worse
1:05 - 1:14
> Receive exclusive VIP rewards
when you achieve light level 30 or own both expansion I & II by 08.31.15
with your purchase of The Taken King
EDIT: The Amazon product page also confirms this (emphasis mine):
> To be eligible to receive the VIP rewards, players will need to have at least one Light Level 30 character or own both Expansion I and Expansion II on or before 08/31/15 AND purchase and play The Taken King on or before 02/01/16.
Here you go
Cheapest way is the legendary edition. It's a disc purchase that comes with destiny, both expansions and taken king.
Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition - PlayStation 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZJ20YQO/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_zYn0vbJQBY8DV
It's $33. Now if you bought the game and each subsequent DLC at launch, like me, then yes over $100.
Edit: Sorry, $33 for Xbox One and $40 for PS4.
Here's an amazon link for you! Destiny is 36 bucks phys, and 40 dig
~$75 CAD before S&H gets you the legendary edition which should come with Destiny, the first and second expansion, as well as TTK
Yes. Perfect time. Get this:
amazon does have a physical copy. http://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Taken-King-Legendary-PlayStation-4/dp/B00ZJ20YQO/ref=sr_1_1_twi_gam_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441048712&sr=8-1&keywords=destiny+the+taken+king
that is the physical copy.
but they do also have the digital.
> New Activities: Adventure through new Strikes featuring powerful bosses, follow more questlines that lead to powerful, new gear and brave the next major Raid to test six-player Fireteams.
Found here. What's kinda interesting is the "questlines that lead to powerful new gear." Or maybe they just mean Exotic bounties...
