My moment has come! Here is my gear organized in Dewalt TSTAK organizers for tools, along with the foam insert they make for them.
They aren't waterproof but I spent around $75 for 4 cases and foam. They can all lock into one stack or be used individually, and the one with the big handle I use on top to carry the whole thing. Works way better than the random bags and bookshelves stuff was in before.
I did the no-build platform where you can put 2 Dewalt TSTAK II toolboxes in the empty space between the front and back seats. They match up just about perfect with the height of the storage boxes under the jumpseats. Then with those on the floor I added the BedRug folding knee pad thing, just needs a couple inches cut off. Laying that down makes for a full flat surface with some padding, and then I added additional fleece blankets for a little more padding. It’s been working out well, though note you won’t be able to push the front seats all the way back with the tool boxes down there. But I’m 5-9 and there is plenty of room for me with it pushed back against the toolbox.
Cool part about this setup other than the flat space for the pup is some additional locked storage with the toolboxes. Read about this setup on Tacomaworld and it’s been working great. I’m sure it would also work with your hammock.

I've tried a few and kicked the tires on a few in store. I settled on packouts and have zero regrets. Easily the best storage system on the market. I especially love the compact organizers. They make great purpose-oriented tool cases. For example, an M12 impact driver, extra battery, screws for the job and a bit set. Kaizen foam for neatness, but don't leave it in the sun.
I do like the t-stack/versastack flat top toolbox too. Compact(ish) and very flexible with what can go in them. Again, enhance with kaizen foam. Get the craftsman versastack version over the dewalt; for some reason the side latch hinges are plastic on dewalt and metal on the craftsman.

Absolutely! I set an annual budget of $2500 and only have $172 left for the year. I just had to purchase this box to house my flower collection. Now I am considering colleting concentrates in 2021. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B6K4V80/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
DEWALT DWST17807 TSTAK II Flat Top Toolbox Organizer
$10 on Amazon, currently $20 most places.
Yea, I wasn't sure if the soft case would be sufficient. It actually fits perfectly into the TSTAK II, and has space for maybe a few bit sets.
For small parts, I actually picked up one of these new for $5. The only downside is that it doesn't stack with the TSTAK, but this one does. I agree that the drawers are most appealing (I probably don't need the deep box as of yet, unless I make some crazy custom inlays). The downside with them is that because of the way they are designed, you NEED to have them sitting on either custom feet, or another TSTAK box since the weight is put onto 4 small feet on the bottom and results in the bottom of each unit bending upwards resulting in the drawers not working. Not sure if having a wheeled base is really necessary for home/apartment use though, or if it might be a welcome mobility thing?
That's true about the customization. I was actually thinking about making some sort of inlay for the TSTAK I for holding all the misc tools (pliers, level, etc.), but once again didn't know if maybe the drawers would be a better option.
