I’ve been taking a DIM supplement for hormonal acne and I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in the last two weeks.
My skin used to be oily all the time and now it’s completely normal or a tad dry which is easily remedied with a light moisturizer. My skin hasn’t been breaking out much at all either.
I’ve struggled for so long and to finally find something that made a marked difference in only two weeks was amazing!
Highly recommend anyone looking to use a DIM supplement do a little research about it to see if it’d be right for you. It’s to remove excess estrogen which contributes to hormonal acne, so if you’re a male I’m not sure how it would work with your body (I only found information regarding female usage).
I’ll attach a link of the actual supplement I ordered from amazon.

Hey! I had done some research on spironolactone, and while it's cheaper and less side effects than BC, I wanted to find something a bit more natural. I discovered DIM - Diindolylmethane ([link]) in a couple articles about hormonal acne. I got a lot of cystic acne around my period as well as if I drank coffee too much.
This supplement has worked fantastically for me, I don't get any hormonal acne at all anymore, my periods and cramps are much less upsetting, and my mood overall is more stable. Highly recommend this if your want to go the supplement route.
Not that I can recall. I used to have seriously irregular periods and it’s helped with that too and they’re even lighter. There are tons of Q&A’s on the amazon reviews, maybe you’ll find your answer there.
DIM Supplement 200mg Plus BioPerine (2 Month Supply) Menopause Relief, Estrogen Balance, PCOS & Cystic Hormonal Acne Treatment, & Body Building. Aromatase Inhibitor. Vegan, Free of GMOs, Soy, & Dairy [link]
I bought it on Amazon! My gyno said it’s helped other patients with PMDD. I started it at the same time as the increased progesterone, so I can’t tell you which one is responsible for this month being bearable (so far). Here’s the link.
I didn’t think it worked but THEN I came off it and was surprised that my periods got heavier and acne returned. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m back on it now and buy mine at Amazon where you can do a subscription🇨🇦 DIM 200mg
This is the brand I use:
I take two capsules a day, in the evening with my vitamins, etc. I think it has probably done the most for my acne. I had really inflamed and painful breakouts on my jawline and chin. The DIM helped to decrease that quite a bit and my other products helped with the inflammation. I really don’t breakout any more in that area and only get a pimple or two around my period now. It’s incredible, I never expected my skin to heal up like this.
Look into DIM. This helped me with my hormonal acne.
DIM Supplement 200mg - DIM Diindolylmethane Plus BioPerine 60-Day Supply of DIM for Estrogen Balance, Hormone Menopause Relief, Acne Treatment, PCOS, Bodybuilding [link]
Thanks for the info, yea I am not touching those, I was thinking of DIM thou... I felt a little skeptic about this but idk... It's 200 mg per pill.. it's sold as a supplement to boost estrogen ..DIM
A daily DIM supplement helped to clear my hormonal breakouts in those areas. I use the Smoky Mountain Naturals brand on Amazon ([link]).
Two capsules daily and I rarely have acne on my jawline/neck (maybe an occasional pimple that is much smaller, less painful, and heals much more quickly than before). My skincare routine is otherwise different than yours, but honestly the DIM has been especially helpful for those specific areas of my face.
I got mine on amazon.
DIM Supplement 200mg Plus BioPerine (2 Month Supply of DIM) Estrogen Balance, Cystic Acne, PCOS, Hormonal Acne Treatment, Menopause Relief, Body Building. Aromatase Inhibitor. Vegan, Non-GMO, Soy-Free [link]
I'm taking this DIM supplement from Amazon! I think it's the same one you're talking about. I never thought of taking more on the days leading to my period though that's such a good idea! Has that helped?
And I recently started taking Zinc so I'm really hoping that helps me too!
Great to know about chemical peels! My sister has gotten them too and loves them. I will have to look into that in the future :)
You may want to try B6 and the DIM supplement. Apparently they help regulate the hormones that go out of whack before menstruation. I can't ever take pills consistently, and even so they helped. Almost didn't notice it was that time of the month. I got the DIM from Amazon ([link]). 200mg may be too high, maybe open the capsule and take half a day the week before your cycle. I had to do my research since I'm not comfortable with hormonal BC :)
I used DIM from a company called "Smoky Mountain Naturals".
I hear you, it affected mine too. I've cut down to a smaller dose which may be the main help. But I found somewhere someone mentioned a product called DIM that helps with excess free estrogen. I've been taking that too and I think it's been a big help. I get bad night sweats which is a sign of estrogen issues (kind of like hot flashes in my sleep). I forgot the dim one night and I was sweaty again. So it's definitely helping with something. I also saw in the reviews for the product I bought (on amazon) a male bodybuilder even reviewing the product and saying it helped him. So I really do think it's going to help but of course I can't guarantee it!

I'm trying DIM. After tanking my E2 for 6 months with adex, I learned what NOT to do. I don't have gyno. I doubt you have it, either. I went through fears about it after starting injections. My last 4 blood tests say I don't have elevated E2. I learned about AIs the hard way. Maybe you will too? In any case, calm your tits.
> Yeah, clomid increases estradiol, an estrogen, so that should explain your emotional state.
Yes. I also didn't have an erection for three weeks, got acne, and got sensitive nipples starting Clomid. I started taking DIM every night before bed to get the estradiol down and that fixed the other issues and got the emotions a little bit under control. The combination of both DIM and taking 1/2 tablets instead of full tablets of Clomid made me feel emotionally/sexually/mentally/physically OK.
> You may not be capable of natural production.
My LH is within but at the very low end of the "normal" scale without Clomid. With 75mg/week of clomid, LH is just below the midpoint of the normal range. After dropping from 75mg/week to 25mg/wk over 7 weeks my free T dropped from 450 to 330. I felt AWFUL both mentally and physically during this period.
My endo asked me to cut all the clomiphene for a month to see what happens. I feel less awful now, but not quite right either. I expect I'll be discussing shots vs returning to 75mg/week of clomiphene in another three weeks...
Maybe try DIM supplements and pantothenic acid.
Hormonal acne is obviously due to hormonal imbalances, aka why it's called hormonal.
I don't want to take birth control so I did research and found out about Diindolyl-methane aka Diim, as a natural alternative to treat hormonal acne.
It's found only in cruciferous veggies like broccoli, but you could never get the amount you need from eating it.
It helps your body metabolize excess hormones which in turn also helps your PMS/Menopause symptoms! Jane Iredale makes a blend but it's like $60.
I get mine from Smoky Mountain Naturals. It definitely makes a difference. It's totally affordable and has great reviews on Amazon too.

That's right. Divide your weekly dose by 7.
The DIM I use is: [link]
I personally use Smoky Mountain Naturals righr now ( [link] ) as it’s paired with bioperine (a black pepper extract that aids absorption).
However at times I just get a big bag of pure DIM powder from [link] and mix it into smoothies or applesauce. No fillers, nothing else. Pretty tasteless and easy — it just doesn’t mix well in a glass of water (it just floats), so it does need to be mixed into something with more substance.
Are her symptoms related to estrogen dominance? (Heavy periods, breast tenderness, mood swings, extreme PMS symptoms or PMDD, among other things.)
If so, I recommend researching the following supplements & reading reviews. All of them help you metabolize excess estrogen and remove it from the body via the liver, which can alleviate those symptoms. Examples are linked.
I take this one from Whole Foods
The friend who recommended DIM takes this one from Amazon
She says hers works great, but I don’t trust supplements from Amazon so that’s why I get mine from a store nearby. I’m sure there’s not much difference in brands, but I’ve personally only tried the Whole Foods brand.
It took me years to figure this out but these products were super effective for me (have been acne free for a year now!):
pimple patches (the microneedle ones are for hormonal acne)
Have you ever used pimple patches? Since you have eczema, I would avoid spot treatments and incorporate pimple patches for any SURFACED ACNE. I like to gently poke them and place these over it so it extracts all the impurities out of the zits. They dont work the best on cystic acne but I still apply them over it to protect it from bacteria or if I have to wear a mask over it https://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Pimple+Patch&field-brand=GR8FUL&field-asin=B08KGQS8HY
I STRONGLY suggest taking a DIM supplement. The pimple patches and DIM cleared up my acne within a month:
Hope these help & good luck!
I found pimple patches like theses ones to be the most effective and less irritating:https://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Pimple+Patch&field-brand=GR8FUL&field-asin=B08KGQS8HY
These lock in moisture to promote faster healing as the hydrocolloid extracts out all the impurities. It also acts as a shield against external pollutants...which also helps with faster healing as well as prevent further breakouts.
Your diet sounds great already but I would also incorporate a DIM supplement like these:
These two products are so easily acccessible in Canada and has changed my life! lol hope they work for you as well!
For hormonal acne, try DIM supplements and pantothenic acid. I am 40 and had hormonal acne, and these supplements cleared it right up.
DIM supplements and pantothenic acid.
DIM as in something like this?: https://www.amazon.com/DIM-Supplement-BioPerine-Treatment-Inhibitor/dp/B006KL4TYG?th=1
>Oh yeah, and this DIM stuff seems popular too. You'd have to do more research than I did, since I was really just trying to help someone and don't have personal experience.
DIM ([link]) & CDG ([link]) are both supplements that help regulate estrogen that I learned about from reading various men’s health forums. Dr. Saya and Dr. Crisler, two pretty prominent MDs in the men’s health field also endorsed them. Neither of them require a prescription and I purchased them directly from amazon; links are provided above.
