Happy to! Dire starts with Dire: Born here. Its by Andrew Seiple. (Who writes other fun [but very different] stories like Threadbare)
Similar to Doctor Fid she's a "Villain" but not a "villain". Unlike Doctor Fid, the dire series builds her up from nothing. So it does have a bit more of a warm up, but it absolutely gets there!
I know someone who published their first novel in their 50s.
Sometimes you can even just publish your fanfics with the names changed. Like 50 shades of grey. That was originally a Twilight fanfic, but they just changed a few names and published it.
Amazon makes it super easy to publish and get money.
A couple of my favorite fanfic authors have transitioned to writing regular books. Vathara. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B012GZ1LAY?ref_=dbs_s_def_awm_dirs_l_1&storeType=ebooks , Lost Demiurge https://www.amazon.com/DIRE-BORN-Dire-Saga-Book-ebook/dp/B018L5DJN0 , jbern https://www.amazon.com/Confessions-D-List-Supervillain-Jim-Bernheimer-ebook/dp/B004WE0D3E
It's never too late to get some cash off of your writing habit.
Didn't read much last week with the holiday and all, so still reading Hardwired. I decided to hold off on The First Law trilogy for a while as I also picked up Dire: Born, Impermanent Universe, and War's Edge: Dead Heroes to try.
Dire: Born is about a villain that falls from the top and fights her way back up helping people along the way.
Impermanent Universe is a first AI thriller where the AI opens doors to another world.
War's Edge: Dead Heroes is straight up military scifi space marines where the MC drops out of university and joins the marines to escape his family/life.
I took a fairly roundabout path to reading fanfiction, and it didn't start in the Harry Potter community (I had actually kind of avoided it, because of reputation). I started reading Andrew Seiple's Dire series, which is a published superhero series. When I finished reading what was out at the time, I looked him up, and discovered the series actually started out as a OC-insert in a Worm fanfiction story, so I then went and read Dire Worm which was the first fanfiction I read (at least, as far as I remember). I then read Worm, and then started following the Worm fanfiction community. From there, I started branching out a bit (partly driven by crossovers) and read a few star wars fics. In one of those, I saw someone recommend a Star Wars/Harry Potter fic, so I tried out I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by Kathryn518. That was my first Harry Potter fanfiction, and was the push I needed to actually start exploring the Harry Potter fanfiction community.
My first encounter was after I read the Dire Saga by Andrew Seiple, I looked up more info about the books. When doing so, I discovered that he first wrote the main character from the books as an insert into a worm fanfic before he published his novels, so I looked up the fanfic and read it. I then went and read worm (Alright, I started skimming moderately heavily once the S9 showed up). After that, I started reading other worm fics.
This is an Amazon Link. Not sure why it wasn't showing up.
DIRE was originally fan-fiction on spacebattles, the author has published a very well done first three books in a series.
Drew Hayes Super Powereds (additionally published in ebook format on amazon) is another excellent read, it starts rough as the author is learning how to write (similar) but gets to be a really good story. Completely different than Worm.
Last, if you just want to kick back and enjoy a fun story, Don't Tell my Parents I'm a Supervillain is a really nice diversion. If you read it, you will recognize some homage/inspiration in characters to Worm.
try Dire:Born. It's a reasonably short novella about someone with no memories, a bit of resources and dumped into superhero land.
This is a Superheroes genre with the main character being a super villain.
an exceedingly good read.
