How about a kneeling chair? DRAGONN by VIVO Ergonomic Kneeling Chair, Adjustable Stool for Home and Office - Improve Your Posture with an Angled Seat - Thick Comfortable Cushions, Black, DN-CH-K01B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073ZN7B52/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_aIjbGbMV2ZMSX
does anyone have one of those kneeling chairs? something like one of these? if so, do you like it?? i'm having a lot of lower back pain and posture issues lately, so i'm wondering if it would help. my one concern is it causing knee pain, as i've gotten some knee pain the past two big hikes i've done. but the hunching is just not doing it for me anymore!
I do know what you mean, yeah. Mine hasn't quite annoyed me the way yours has, but I've had a similar feeling from time to time.
You could also try splitting time between a "knee chair" and a standing desk, if you really wanted to go "all in." Standing desk and knee chairs have the same problem; you really can't do them all day long. But you could probably split time between them (I haven't tried that myself).
Do you think maybe one of those kneeling chairs would work for you? This kind of thing. I've got a bit more to love but I'm not too big so I don't know how well they'd work for you, but I found them really natural to use with my back held up straight. Some people use an exercise ball for the same purpose but I still found it too easy to hunch over with those.
I really want to get a kneeling chair like the one in the link, but not necessary that one. some people might think of it as a lisa simpson chair lol.
i have back pain from a work injury a few years ago and i thought this might help a bit. I also thought it wouldn't be terrible for meditation either.
Have you ever tried a chair like this?
Takes some getting used to, but a decade ago a chiropractor recommended kneeling chairs to me for my back issues and I can never go back to the old fold-yourself-in-half kind again.
Ergonomic chair. This is the most comfortable chair and it relieves lower back pain. Also, it is adjustable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073ZN7B52/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_dlC_nfFXFbJFRV2BN
Place monitor at eye level.
Walk around the block twice a day. If course do more when you dan.
Watch videos standing up and doing weights.
Stretch. Lots of exercises online for sciatica. Since that is probably in your future, you can start now to possibly prevent it.
Kneeling chair - I use https://www.amazon.com/DRAGONN-Ergonomic-Kneeling-Adjustable-Office/dp/B073ZN7B52 (in fact, I have two of these :-).
Disclaimer #1: AFAIK there are no studies that show the benefits of a kneeling chair (but then, AFAIK there are also no studies that show the benefits of a standing desk). Still, the chair made a huge difference for me.
Disclaimer #2: To adjust and get used to the kneeling chair, I would start with just 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon and extending the time gradually over 1-2 weeks. Also - it is important that you do not lean forward (e.g. when using a keyboard or a mouse) - leaning forward would flex the lower back and might exacerbate back problems.
Disclaimer #3: A comfortable chair is only one part of a solution. Moving from time to tome and changing positions is important in general for lower back health (e.g. don't sit/kneel all the time - get up and walk around the room every 10-15 minutes and/or get for a longer walk after lunch). I highly recommend the "Back Mechanic" book by McGill: https://www.amazon.com/Back-Mechanic-Stuart-McGill-2015-09-30/dp/B01FKSGJYC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2T3452809ELSY&dchild=1&keywords=back+mechanic+mcgill&qid=1617841459&sprefix=back+mechanic%2Cgarden%2C242&sr=8-1
I love this backless, ergonomic, chair that forces you to use your core muscles, yet is comfortable. Keeps you from slouching and it is adjustable

I use a kneeling chair. Somewhat same concept. I paid 100 dollars.

I can sit indian style (is that still the name) in the chair ok, but is a bit awkward.
Rather a giant yoga ball than a kneeling chair.

I’ve had spinal and hip surgeries, this has helped me tremendously.
> I have a sitting/standing desk to avoid sitting all day.
Chair is also important. I have three;
I alternate between them during the day based on what im doing and how lazy im feeling.
For standing you also want a fatigue mat, something with an interesting texture/foot games if you don't wear shoes.
I also have a desk treadmill that lives in the corner and mocks me because I never use it. They run at very low speed so you are walking slowly while working but I found it impossible to read/type while walking and I because I'm usually an active participant or leading zoom calls it didn't work well for that. If I was mostly phone based it would be great.
> I also have a good set of headphones, although I wish they were better for phone calls — I have to take them off when a call comes in, which can be annoying.
Get a bluetooth headset that supports multiple devices. I use bone conduction headphones as I don't like the absence of ambient sound when im working https://www.amazon.com/Shokz-OpenRun-Conduction-Headphones-Built/dp/B09BW1QVVT but pretty much any Bluetooth headset will work.
If you frequently present/talk a real microphone is also a good investment as you will be much clearer to people. https://www.amazon.com/Rode-Podcaster-Studio-Custom-Kit/dp/B00KTGNC3M is the one I use.
Other stuff I consider essential;
I have siatica and back issues and finally started used my wife's kneeling chair. So so so much better on my back: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/DRAGONN-Ergonomic-Kneeling-Adjustable-Office/dp/B073ZN7B52&ved=2ahUKEwjv5Zya5Kv4AhX9FzQIHZerAOEQFnoECCIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1eh8spD9BpZhuYMtNTntmg
Note: I have no financial interest in this product or link
Looks like most models are the same. As an Amazon Seller, I think this one may be your best bet. The reviews aren't amazing but I own some VIVO mounts and they have good QC so I'd expect the same from this item. With that being said, this whole category has pretty bad Amazon reviews. You can view the top selling kneeling chairs of Amazon US here. There are 250-300 dollar models on the market but they look to be the same quality for the most part and most likely just invest their extra funds into marketing.
Did someone try a Kneeling Chair? (no support for the back)

I didn't buy a new traditional chair but the doctor did recommended this:
It is a kneeling chair. So it might be a bit awkward to use in the office.
The doctor also recommended these
Personally, the brace and the nada chair together work the best.
Thank you
Anyone have those knee chair that are good for your back? Do you like it

I use a kneeling chair (like this). Takes some getting used to, but I could never go back. Keeps my spine in a natural shape instead of folded up.
