It gets lost on many people that we have a problem with the top 10% as opposed to just a problem with the top 1% or .1%.
But recently some books are taking a crack at the topic:
The 9.9 Percent: The New Aristocracy That Is Entrenching Inequality and Warping Our Culture
I've been thinking a lot about my place in the world (probably like plenty of other infjs) and how to balance my personal goals with giving back and striving to make the world more fair. I come from a privileged background and I've always had intuitions about how certain advantages that I and others from my community have had are unfair. I started looking for books and articles about this recently and found plenty of evidence that the things I've always felt were morally questionable/wrong seriously impede social mobility and undermine the meritocratic ideal. I really want to know what needs to change to solve this problem--from both a policy perspective and in the attitudes/behaviors of the upper middle class--but when I try to bring it up people don't seem to like acknowledging it :/
Here's an article and book if anyone's interested!
