Aha, well that changes things.
In my view you still want that particular cable, 95% or more of devices made in the last decade use RJ45 so best to pick the cable you're most often going to be able to use without an adapter.

"cisco" serial cables are "rollover" cables, ie they invert the wires end to end, you probably need a straight thru or an adapter like this

please note, this doesnt not convert the serial to ethernet, its only using the ethernet cabling standard so you can use any standard ethernet cable
