I wanted to share some trials and tribulations with my used Seal 210M which last week caught on fire while pressing a Thor #3 1st Full App of Black Winter! Coincidence? I think not.
Anyways as you can see from the pictures the power into the switch is what caught on fire and is a sure fire sign of a bad switch. I tried to find an exact match online to the original but it was harder than you think. The original is a:
McGill Rocker Switch On-Off Metal Plating 15A 227VAC 1-1/2 HP 125-250VAC
I couldn't find it, I figured another model/brand would work but I am no electrician and didn't want to risk it. So I called D&K Farming Products 888-240-6021 ext 110. The Seal/Bienfang company has been bought and sold many times. They were very helpful and gave me the name of a service company Servright 800-642-6015 who would come out and fix for a fee. However, they also told me it was a easy fix and game me the number for OneSource 855-200-1663 option 2 for Parts. They suggested I order Part# TS1302053KIT which I did for $30 dollars.
The kit came today and sure enough it was a different switch. It came with a:
Carling Technologies 10A 250VAC 15A 125VAC 3/4 HP 125-250VAC Mexico 2030 R
It also came with two different sized Insulated Flag Terminals which you can see in the pictures.
In addition I ordered some Insulating Glass Cloth Electrical Tape to insulate the connectors like they originally were. I think this will help with potential fires.
One last thing, I didn't have Flag Terminal Crimps which would of been nice I had to use needle nose pliers and be very careful.
So I am back up and running everything seems good as of now. I tried to find the parts without going through a special order here is the list:
Hope this saves someone some time in the future, feel free to ask me any questions.
