>And general advice as I prepare my bags and car?
Take everything - even those things you think "I probably won't need that!" Are you camping with a group or by yourself? The packing list will be different. However, one life saver is just a rechargeable battery and folding solar panel. This will charge your phone, your kindle, and anything else that has a USB power plug.
What you do is just let the solar panel lay out in a sunny spot with the battery hooked up to it all day. Once the battery is recharged at night, bring it in your sleeping space and plug in your near dead electronics. It's way easier to do this than to find an outlet open or one that won't cost you probably more over the course of Pennsic than the battery and the solar panel together will.
Drink water. Not beer, not wine, not that funny stuff they serve down in the bog - water. You need it.
Walmart runs are actually entertaining. You can go in garb. Heck, I've been to Church in garb while staying at Pennsic. Don't worry about changing into muggle clothing - no one cares in the nearby towns.
Activities - check out the booklets when troll hands them to you. Read through both of them. One is a schedule of classes and other fun things like the battlefield schedules. Sign up for a few classes. Also, sign up for a couple of hours at troll - you get to see people and you learn a lot.
Will you be going with family? Kids? What sort of accommodations have you brought to sleep in? If a tent, I highly recommend bringing enough pallets to make a "floor" for your tent. Just throw a couple of boards on top of the pallets - you can get the boards at Pennsic or at one of the hardware stores around it- and put some cheap rugs (IKEA!!!!) over the boards. This gives you elevation so when it does rain, your tent will not flood. Also, having a wood floor to walk on is just nicer in general.
Bring money. Anything you forgot at home can be bought at Pennsic. If it's not 100% necessary, wait until Midnight Madness to buy the item if not the next day (or the day after that!). The merchants will start having some sales and deals around that time - not as good as they used to but still some deals are well worth the wait.
I use the first generation of this charger and don't have any issues.
I've been using this EasyAcc power bank since launch and it's held up fairly nicely.
