Emergency by Neil Strauss comes to the same conclusion. Getting plugged in to your community through disaster preparedness programs is the way to go!
Ive looked into it since my Dad was born in Scotland and now we live in Canada. For me it seems fairly simple it would just be expensive. This is a good book to read about the struggles one guy went through to get a second passport.

"Emergency" by Neil Strauss isn't fully comprehensive, but there's plenty in there about preparing for all sorts of disasters-- what supplies you should have on hand, how to set up safehouses in other countries, what skills you'll need after the apocalypse, etc, etc. For a book about the end of the world, it's pretty damned funny, I'd definitely check it out.
There's actually a really interesting book about escaping LA during a catasrophe and how to survive in the wild afterward.
Read Emergency by Neil Strauss. Some useful info and a fun read.
I have this book coming to my doorstep: Emergency!

As the wiki article points out, that the US says it is possible does not mean any other country agrees. If you enter a country which disagrees they can deport you back to the US as though you were a US citizen.
I have not disagreed with any of that, though this book has a more practical look at how this works, it does not actually answer the grievance AnCaps have.
