There’s the adapter. Next the the controller is what you’ll plug the guitar into. The snes controller is just a bonus. Make sure to get a USB extension too, if you do purchase it.
I’ve heard decent things about the Emio Edge
EMiO Edge Gamepad for SNES Mini - Super NES ---They normally cost around $12 on Amazon.
While waiting the three months it took in standard shipping for my Raphnet adapter to arrive, I used the EMiO adapter off Amazon in the meantime and it worked extremely well for the price it costs. Unfortunately no whammy function but for an average Clone Hero player like me I had zero complaints with it.

Here's the link for it: https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=sr\_1\_2?keywords=EMiO+Edge+Gamepad+for+SNES+Mini+-+Super+NES&qid=1663879617&sr=8-2
Wii guitars are really good, it's just about finding an adapter, and even then the cheapest adapter I know of that works is only $10 https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=3FAQYLHLUQF5B&keywords=emio+adapter&qid=1661467530&sprefix=emio%2Caps%2C267&sr=8-1
I found one on eBay before but it was almost $200 which is insane. I am currently using a Wii Les Paul and this adapter that's working well for me. The whammy doesn't work, but I'm not going for high scores. It's a cheap alternative until they come back in stock.
to anyone who doesnt know already and is looking for the adapter for Wii
The raphnet adapter is frequently out of stock and it's expensive to ship to the US.
There's a cheaper adapter on Amazon that works with Wii guitars (with the exception of the whammy bar)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
This is a solid alternate. Whammy/Tilt doesn’t work but you can map Star power to select to fix the tilt. If you’re ok without whammy until Raphnet restocks, this is a safe bet. You’ll also want to snag an extension cable.
Next best option to Raphnet, here, I do believe using this makes it so the tilt & whammy don’t work, iirc, but you can map Star power the select button & be able yo still use it. Get an extension, too.
EMIO Adapter works wonders if you don't care about the whammy! Get the adapter, USB extension cable, plug it all up, then hold minus on the guitar and your PC should be able to read it.
I purchased this adapter to use with a Wii LP on my MacBook. No whammy or tilt support. Despite this, the $9 price and quick Amazon shipping fit my needs. It’s a great solution for me to take CH on the go. If you go for this make sure to get a USB extension of appropriate length! The actual adapter is maybe 3 inches long.
Here's one that comes with a SNES controller. I have this for my secondary controller and it works great. You'll probably also need to get a USB extender to make it reach, and also be sure to set your keybinds when using it for the first time.
Two options off the top of my head:
1) 8bitdo GBros. Adapter 2) This Emio edge controller that comes with a classic to usb adapter: EMiO Edge Gamepad for SNES Mini - Super NES https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_ND9887GC8Z1VWMJHMYK9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use the adapter from the Emio edge with the NES/SNES Classic controllers on my MiSTer and I haven’t noticed lag. That said, I’m not suuuper sensitive to it, so there could be some. $15, so it’s not too bad a gamble and you get a somewhat decent controller with it. I was lucky when I got it as it was only $6-7.
I have the GBros. adapter as well, but I haven’t used it nearly as much. I tried it out to compare to the Emio and didn’t notice a difference.
I know this post is a week old, but just wanted to add that a cheaper alternative to the Raphnet adapter mentioned in the other comment is the adapter that comes with this controller.
If you only need the buttons and not the stick or whammy bar, this might be an option for you. Otherwise, the Raphnet adapter is the only one I know off the top of my head that is known for sure to have full functionality with the guitar controllers.
I deleted my other comment because it had just assumed you wanted an alternative wiimote adapter. If that is what you’re looking for, this link has one that doesn’t make whammy or star power tilt work, but everything else is fine. I’d guess that’s not what you’re looking for though: https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC
You’d have to buy an extension cord USB to USB, whammy bar and star power tilt don’t work, but it’s in stock. This is what I use, and I’ve never touched the SNES controller part of this product: https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC
The EMiO adapter works well enough for casual play. I got one to hold me over until my raphnet arrived in the mail.
You can grab it off Amazon in a cheap bundle with a trash SNES gamepad.
That's a great guitar; I want a raphnet adapter too but I'm playing quite fine with that amazon adapter that costs like $6; it's called an EMIO ADAPTER FOR WII ; here is a link so you can check it out; that's while you waot for your raphnet in the mail Emio (Temporary adapter)
Wiitar thing is okay but I could never get it to work. I use this https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=asc_df_B073HPD5TC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=343955756390&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14599605861207565340&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
Best adapter I’ve used and I have it for all my guitars. Grab a usb3 extension cable and you’re good to go. Plus it comes with a good snes controller
^ this but theres also an alternative to the raphnet adapter that is much cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=raphnet+wii+adapter+usb&qid=1619827900&sprefix=raphne&sr=8-7 it has the same adapter included with the snes controller
The adapter that comes with this 100% works among all guitars. I’ve personally tested each. PLUS you get a sweet SNES controller and a fun tips and tricks book for old SNES games lol. Much cheaper than the Raphnet plus some fun freebies!
I had a wiitar and i found this cheaper alternative for the raphnet adapter that has worked fine for me. it’s a $15 SNES usb remote that comes with the dongle you need for wiitar to usb. it has worked fine for me. it is short though so you would need a usb extension cord thing.
https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC
The adapter that comes included with this controller has been reputed to work. I've seen it in Acai's comment section, on this subreddit, and in the Amazon reviews themselves (which say that the adapter works for Wii guitars).
$14, but you'll need to buy a USB extension cable as well (female to male) so add on another $5 or so :)
If you can’t get a raphnet adapter, apparently this one works. https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmrnull_2?crid=12G009F9IFNGQ&keywords=emio+edge+gamepad+for+snes&qid=1552230643&s=gateway&sprefix=emio+edge+&sr=8-2-fkmrnull
I unintentionally found a way to use my two wireless wii guitars with USB just today.
I bought this SNES controller at a nearby mall. It's for the SNES Mini but comes with a USB adapter for PC. The adapter so happens to be perfectly compatible with the Les Paul. It works flawlessly. Input lag is the same as my Xplorer, and it worked first try. The only thing I needed was a USB extension.
20$ for a semi-crap SNES controller and an adapter for most Wii controllers. I'm considering buying another one.
You can either use:
Wiimote & Wiitarthing
Or
Or
Emio Edge (cheaper option, will need a USB extension) (No whammy)
If you decide to go wired. My wife has hers working with the adapter from this and an USB extension.
For most guitars, some kind of adapter. For Wii, there are a few options, the best being the Raphnet but they're usually out of stock lately. This one works (yes you buy the whole thing just for the adapter), but without tilt/whammy, and the cable is very short. There are other adapters that may work but I haven't tried.
Option 3 is a standard Wiimote with Bluetooth, either built in to your PC or with an adapter.
Option 4 is my favorite but takes the most work and soldering: mod it with a microcontroller
Elecom only works with Wii Les Paul, and not always either.
The only adapters that work are Raphnet (out of stock currently), Emio (no whammy or joystick support on that one though) or Arduino-based one if you know how to solder.
So the adapter comes with a game pad which you don’t need at all it’s just the adapter you want. Also it’s a really short cable so I linked a USB extension cord. I also linked the guitar I bought but you can look around for another one

Whammy/Tilt star power does not work. It works fine other than that. You'll need a Male to Female usb cable as the adapter is very short.
If you purchase this it comes with the adapter needed, the only downfall is that my whammy doesn't work (not sure if its the adapter or the guitar though).
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details 12 dollars for plug-n-play device to your computer. I would also buy a USB extension cable if you get it.
Throw the controller away, but keep the adapter. Cheapest way to get teh adapter. Nothing fancy just a usb device that you can attach any snes mini controller to it. I recommend it.
https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC this is the cheapest and reliable adapter that is known to work. I have 0 issue with it however you need a female to male usb cable cause the adapter is hella short.
Ok so there is a better way! On Amazon there is a SNES controller for $10 that is terrible, but it comes with the adapter for wii guitars to usb. All you need is that and a usb extender cord because it is short. Adapter. Same extender I have ($8) I haven’t experienced any lag or delay while using this. It’s great if you don’t want to spend a bunch of money on a silly cord
This 100 percent works BUT the cable is super short. I recommend buying a female to male usb to extend the length 👍

EMiO Edge Gamepad for SNES Mini - Super NES
I purchased mine for $6 including taxes and shipping.
This adapter will work great for Clone Hero, PS2/PS3/Wii emulators and the Guitar Hero World Tour Definitive Edition mod for PC. All functionallity works besides the whammy bar and thumbstick, neither are needed to play honestly.
Make sure you hold "Star Power" "Select" or "Minus" on your guitar for 5 seconds to switch to xinput (Xbox) mode on PC (You will hear the sound of a USB device being unplugged/plugged in Windows)
It does NOT work with the PC version of Guitar Hero III, Aerosmith, and World Tour being that those games do not allow remapping the buttons on the guitar.
The reason for this issue is it is a direct input translation adapter, and the PC version are looking for Xbox controller inputs and the controls on a Nintendo Switch/Pro/Classic/Etc. Controller are backwards compared to an Xbox controller i.e. :
A = B
B = A
X = Y
Y = X
I also opened the included snes controller and salvaged its connector wire since it is pinned the same as the guitar's wiimote connector and soldered it in the guitar on the backside of the board so I am able to use my guitar wirelessly or wired. (Forgive my poor solder job, they are small points and it was my first time in a decade)
The internal wires are the same color except for one:
Black = Black
White = White
Green = Green
Blue = Yellow
Red = Red
I routed the new wire through the wiimote connector's original position in the star power button housing and moved the wiimote connector to the side, then I snaked the new wire through the guitar with a bit of slack in case it gets pulled on somehow. I desolderd the unreleased Star Power Pedal RJ11(Phone) port and that gave me a perfect area to anchor the new cable down with a simple zip tie and also an opening in the body of the guitar to route the cable out without having to damage the shell.
I can use Wiitar thing with the wiimote so I canand play wirelessly and also use the whammy bar when I feel like it and then I can plug my new cable in to the adpater via USB and have a little better response for difficult clone hero charts.
I call it the Wiiosk Guitar Mod.

Just get this. It comes with a controller that you don’t need but it’s only like 13 bucks and has the same adapter
These work fine too, I'm playing on one right now.

This is the ones I buy. Get a bonus game pad with it too for a super cheap price. EMiO Edge Gamepad for SNES Mini - Super NES https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_PCTQ8HYA0WE7B7NEMGDD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
you will likely want to use an usb adaptor, rather than connecting the wii remote via a driver, because of the latency. i use an adapter that comes with this
How about checking eBay for a SNES Classic controller (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Nintendo-Classic-Edition-Controller-SNES-Genuine-OEM-Official-CLV-202-/393821665739?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0) and then getting one of these so you can plug it into a PC (EMiO Edge Gamepad for SNES Mini - Super NES https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5GNMSSX0M6M0WM6FH9MR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and using it with an emulator on PC? Just a thought! You could even go for an original SNES pad and a SNES to USB adapter.
this one is similar but it doesn't support whammy or star power tilt
https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC
Geez, just buy one of these.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC
It's basically an adapter for $6, that includes a crappy controller you should never use for anything.
I don't know how this compares to other adapters, but for $6 vs $20+ you can't go wrong with this thing. It works with NES and SNES classic controllers. I have used it on my PC and my Raspberry Pi systems, as well as other SBC boards. All the buttons work, no problems. But it won't work with analog sticks or triggers from what I remember. Just the buttons that SNES uses, so NES is covered. The included controller is a waste.
Raphnet makes adapters, but you will pay more. About $25 plus shipping. I hear they are good, but I never tried one.

This is cool but pricier and more than you need, but it exists.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089O4EB0
Works the same but you get two ports, and full button support for Wii Classic controllers.

This is garbage, it sucks balls don't buy it. Just putting it here for comparisons.

I was able to get it working (just barely), but it's very finicky and unstable. I don't like it.

Hope this helps!
this one is good but it doesn't have whammy support https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC
I saw someone say they use this. But would a wiiremote still be needed?
And nah, I'd have no luck bootlegging it myself lol
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073HPD5TC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Bought this because the raphnet adapter was out of stock. Works perfect, no issues + snes controller if you want that lol
It seems like the usual consensus around here is to go for the Raphnet adapter, but they always seem like they're out of stock. Might be worth it to wait until they're in, though.
I've seen a few people getting good results out of the adapter that comes with this, and it's cheap as hell. But the whammy and tilt function might not work with this adapter, though I'm not sure because I haven't personally used it.
Amazon has 3 reviews. 2 are negative about the dpad. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_sWp-zbAM743DT
Worth it almost for that usb adapter alone though.
