I highly suggest this book to learn the origins of these interrogation techniques and what was actually approved by President Bush following the 9/11 attacks. Waterboarding for 20 seconds was authorized, perceived physical violence was approved using a towel and a false wall, sleep deprivation was used. All of them highly monitored by medical professionals. All of these techniques led to the spoiling of future terrorist attacks on American soil. The continued the techniques likely because they were getting bullshit info from the guy who was likely trained in anti interrogation. Just food for thought. The book is a great read as well.
