A really great, literary read that you might find enjoyable is Epic of Evolution: Seven Ages of the Cosmos. It's well-written, lucid, and highly informative, tracing cosmogony as far back as possible. I love how frank it is about what scientists don't know about the universe, and outlines some of the current theories that attempt to solve the problems of the universe. The price is exorbitant on Amazon, but I found it at B&N for ~$20. I highly, highly recommend it!
