If you aren't looking for something fancy and don't care too much about resolution, I would recommend this camera. I have three of them (one for each of my vehicles) and they have worked great with no issues. Easy to mount, easy to wire and works as intended. It's just nothing special.
Sorry but what do you mean by harness, for the camera?
I believe so, this is the reverse camera I bought:
And this will be plugged into the Sony XAV-5000
I actually got the backup camera from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074KZSVD6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm assuming this camera will be compatible with the 2440. Which guidelines are you referring to?
Congrats! I don't know much about cars, but I like the electronics so here are a few cool things you could do.
Get in the habit of setting calendar reminders for when you have to renew your registration, inspection, and insurance.
There's probably no way I can express this properly, but I'll try. You're entering one of the most dangerous periods of your life. There was once a time in my life where I felt like I was a pretty good driver. That came to a pretty abrupt end a few times, and not because I was being reckless but because I wasn't being afraid. Stay afraid. When you feel that thought in the back of your mind that you're getting pretty good at driver or that you're a pretty safe driver, take that as a moment to really reevaluate things.
In skydiving there's a saying "complacency kills". And in driving it's the same. You can't control 99% of the variables out on the road, but you can mitigate 99% of the risk with just one variable- your speed. Be careful and enjoy driving!
this is my camera, which seems to take 12v-24v

I bought the back up cam that was suggested with my head unit.
It’s plug and play with the system. This is the one I have.

Gotcha. If I go with the Kenwood DDX9903S, what else would I need for the install besides the dash kit? Just a wiring harness?
I searched Scoche for kits, but this is the only one that came up. Looks like a single din- is there another place you recommending searching?
Looking at this for the backup camera.
Edit: Sorry for another edit, but I found this kit. For some reason it's not included in the results when I search by make/model/year.
