I have the Rodina automatic and I absolutely love it. I've had it four three or four years now and it still looks new. It's a cheap alternative to the Nomos Tangente if you like the Bauhaus look but want a cheaper option.
you should be able to buy it from some other sites. I believe I snagged mine for $99 or so.
I am selling my Rodina Automatic. I bought this thing wore it once and decided it was way too small for me. My plan was to return it to amazon but then I let 30 days expire because I'm an idiot. Great watch to decide if you like Bauhaus style and to wear it around for a few days while you save your Nomos.
Comes with original Leather streap and box!
Here is the Amazon page I bought it from with detailed info: [link]
$90 shipped US - SOLD
I bought one for myself and my fiance, and we love them. I have about 8 straps because the Timex Weekender ones work on this face. The actual time piece looks amazing, and after 6 months of every day wear, the stainless steel has not scratched or started to look worn. I wear it business casual, casual, and I'll be wearing it at my wedding as well.
is similarly priced and is sexy.
Any opinion on this style or knowledge of the brand? I like its aesthetic but haven't pulled the trigger. As far as I can tell it's just an economy Chinese manufacturer but any insight would be helpful.
edit: I see that it's an "homage" to the Nomos Tangente & Stowa Antea watches, at 1/10th - 1/20th of the price. I may keep waiting for a better option.
[link] . Bought it off Amazon. Weird that the product description says genuine leather but my strap says shell cordavan on the back. Not going to worry about it b/c loving the watch
Planning on getting my first watch soon, specifically this beauty - Rodina Bauhaus. I'm not familiar with watches at all, but can I buy any similarly sized watch strap and swap it on?
I am thinking about buying this Rodina watch. Is there any reason why I shouldn't?
Also, thinking about other watches but still looking around. Any reccomendations for a watch under $150? I tend to like watches that have a cleaner look to them and I'm not restricting myself to any one style. New to /r/watches and hoping to be around for awhile.
I always suggest a simple watch as someones first watch and this: [link] is the perfect first watch at the moment. Bauhaus is the current popular style and you can buy some straps for both casual/busy occasions.
Something I recommend is the Bering OEM. Reasonable price, one of the cheaper sapphire crystal watches around. I've had it for a year now, no scratches or any other issues with it. Pretty simple and clean appearance, goes well with a lot of different outfits.
You should also check out Seiko as they make a lot of good options in that price range. Also Rodina seems to meet all your requirements, but has a worse reputation for quality than Orient or Seiko.
Yeah I've been drooling over the Max Bill... it looks really good. I think I've narrowed it down to these now:
Second Option Third Option Fourth option Any final thoughts on what I should go with?
Thinking about this Bauhaus watch by Kent Wang for casual wear. Its a bit pricey but I really love the minimal aeshetic. I'm torn between that one and this one, especially since the price point is so much lower.
I'm new here. How does the Sea-Gull Rodina have the same face as the Nomos Tangente?
This maybe? It's a Chinese movement, has Arabic numbers, Sapphire and display back. Hell of bargain if you ask me!

A nice mechanical nomos homage within your budget with plenty of $ leftover to pickup a premium leather strap of your choosing.
I'm looking for a watch for my boyfriend (9 year anniversary gift). He wants something simple - minimal branding, plain medium-sized face, leather band on the thicker side. I just ordered this guy on eBay for $200 (new with tags and box). Was that a good move? I figured I could try to sell it if he isn't crazy about it.
I'd love any recommendations here! I'm even considering buying a second one that looks a little fancier (with a brown strap) and making him pick his favorite, since I'm clueless when it comes to watches. If I could find a second one for $200ish, that would be fantastic. If not, I'd consider spending a little more on a better watch and returning the one I just ordered.
EDIT: I'm considering the Rodina. Thoughts?
I just bought a Rodina Automatic and really like it so far. It's clean, minimalist, works well, and is very affordable. Here is the amazon link.
Looks like a Rodina
Yeah definitely! That's what I like as well, I'm currently rotating between these two. I love brown bands, as far as your current choices go, I like em both but they're just not my style.
The Orient Bambino Collection is popular for automatic movement vs affordable price. You could also check out other Orients, another choice but is a bit +- on this sub is Rodina.
That's just my two cents, if you have any other questions/requirements, feel free to mention.
Hope this helped you a bit.
If you raise the price point a little, get him something memorable like this wonderful watch:
