They don't care if you're an obvious 'Tesla' that is obviously electric, much less a Mach E that some might know is electric. If you don't have the sticker, you pay the fine.

I've read about some (with a Mach E) that have their stickers in the glovebox and got pulled over, they still got a ticket because it is supposed to be displayed, and no, putting it on now doesn't count, that just means you won't get another ticket.

/Get some DMV shaped PPF stickers and put them on that way. They're only good for 4 years, and you can't get another set. Once expired, they'll peel right off with no residue.

I only put 1 hov sticker on the car on the rear right and I used the ppf sticker underneath. First just stick the hov sticker to the ppf then u can put the ppf directly on the car so it comes off easy. I used the PPF backing from here. I put the small ones on my passenger side rear bumper and passenger side front bumper.

The two large are in their envelope in the glove box.

I only use the HOV stickers to be able to use the on-ramp, I never have a need for the HOV lanes.

You may want to purchase something like this product ( EV Wraps California HOV Stickers 3M Paint Protection Film - Fits 2020 & 2021 https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07NK8S13G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KFE3NNP7H237V2ENF1KX I bought these for my Chevy Volt) so you can remove the stickers without damaging your paint once they expire.

Put some painter's tape on it before going thru.

Or get the front end PPF'd and tell them not to cut the opening, you can do it if you ever need to.

Or!, get one of those PPF HOV lane sticker backings and put that over it.

The PPF strips were from Amazon. I haven’t actually installed it yet, as my package allegedly arrives tomorrow. Was Amazon Prime, but delivery was pushed back a couple times already.

I don't have a picture of mine right now but I highly recommend getting these and not putting the stickers directly on the car. This is my 3rd HOV qualified vehicle and the stickers are a major pain to get off after the 3 years are up if you don't use something like this.

In my former ev, I used the one small one and placed it low on rear bumper to make it the least obstructive as possible. Such a nice car to put ugly stickers on.

Also consider getting vinyl on Amazon to place the sticker on, so it’s not terrible to remove once the stickers expire in a few years.

Hey, here is mine.... I just got them fairly recently and threw them on w/o much hesitation or planning :) It is what it is. I am sure I could've done a better job, but meh. Note the revised placement guide, no stickers on the back, just the sides and front.

I used the 3M clear PPF, $9.99 on Amazon ... Was as easy as it gets...

You should put this PPF underneath the sticker. It makes the installation 10x easier to get it lined up perfectly and protects your paint from adhesive.
