The solution to this would be to buy an HDMI EDID emulator. I’ll link it below. Keep in mind you will only be able to run 120hz in 1080p, so make sure you set your output to 1080p and to performance mode before plugging this in. You also need to turn off HDCP in the settings as well.
Best of luck
Oh that's frustrating. I couldn't say if that's the same issue or how to fix it. :\
The only thing I've heard in my journey, at least for the version of the issue I've described, is a user on here who told me he solved it by plugging an EDID emulator into his Pocket Dock. Can't say if it works myself as I've not tried yet, but your post reminded me to go ahead and buy one, so I just did that. Guess I'll know if it works in two days.
You want an EDID emulator: https://www.amazon.com/EVanlak-Passthrough-Generrtion-Eliminated-Thunderbolt/dp/B07YMTMMH5
This will report to a connected device that there is a display plugged in, even if there isn't. So you Pi would boot fine and you could then switch to the correct input on the Phillips.
This says bi-directional, it might send HPD to the Phillips to indicate to the display that something is connected, but I am unsure on that. I have not used one for that kind of use.
Update, I finally got the Mclassic to work with my 4k monitor. Asus Tuf Gaming VG28U 28" monitor, I had to buy a EDID emulator. The Switch still only does 1080p though it, but having anti-aliasing on games like Pokemon Legends Arceus are definitely worth the benefit of the Mclassic on a 4k monitor. I plan to also use it with the Kirby the forgotten lands game as well, coming out today. For anyone like me having trouble getting the Mclassic to work on a monitor try buying the thing I linked below. Because now I go from getting no signal with processing on to 1080p signal. Which is all better than nothing!
Try this with your GameCube issue

I hate that I promote this product so much but buying an edid emulator off Amazon fixes the issue.
I wouldn’t say those people on older 1440p monitors are using something outdated. It’s just the monitor market and manufacturers are shitty. Years old monitors still perform the exact same as modern ones, there’s just no innovation apart from higher refresh rate.
My Dell s2721dgf is only a year and a half old and doesn’t natively downscale even though it has the capability to downscale.
I don’t know about serial number specifically, but I’m very certain you could get an adapter that tells the computer that the monitor is something different than it is. I use one of these with my PS5 and 144hz monitor to allow it to work with PS5 in high refresh rate mode, and I’d imagine it’s reporting different make and model to the PS5 when going through the adapter.
This might also be helpful. 4k edid emulator that forces a 4K signal to the monitor which then the monitor downscales to 1440p. Works on my Dell s2721dgf I use with my ps5.
I want to assume it works with all monitors. Haven’t tested it with my 1080p monitor as I didn’t see the point but I can.
This did the trick for me with my 1440p screen getting proper 120hz. Bet there is an easier fix around as I researched this a long time ago but sharing anyway just in case:
I have 1440p monitor and Can reach 120hz with these tool enjoy EVanlak HDMI Dvi Vga Dummy Plug Headless Ghost Display Emulator Premium Aluminum PC(Fit Headless-3840x2160@60H New 3RD) https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B07YMTMMH5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_HNVQKAQJ1DGC6JDRCTZV?psc=1
Need to share this:
If you have one of these S2721DGF monitors and you want to use it with a PS5, you might think you're out of luck as it does not natively support 4k to 1440p downscaling.
Wrong!
If you buy this little guy off Amazon.ca, disable HDCP, and plug it directly into the monitor you're good to go: https://www.amazon.ca/EVanlak-Passthrough-Generrtion-Eliminated-Thunderbolt/dp/B07YMTMMH5
It tricks the PS5 into thinking that a 4k device is attached using a fake EDID profile. This monitor doesn't advertise itself as being able to accept a 4k input although it can just fine. It then takes the 4k signal and downscales it to 1440p
Xbox Series X natively supports 1440p. I'm sure Sony will add it down the road but this is a nice workaround until then.
Yes you won't be able to view some content without removing the little guy and you'll lose HDR.
It doesn’t downscale 4K so you’d be stuck with a 1080p image unless you get an edid emulator like this.
I have mine set up so the little thing is connected like so, PS5 -> hdmi cable -> edid emulator -> monitor. In my case I have an hdmi switch I connect the edid emulator to and it still works.
Not sure if an hdmi switch + edid emulator exists but would be cool.
Yes it can, but you will need a hdmi emulator for it to work.
Tried and tested on COD COLD WAR
I got this a few months ago and it's a pretty great monitor but here are a couple things worth noting. It doesn't have HDMI 2.1, so you either need to use 2 cables to get 4k 144hz, or go with 1 cable and get 4k 120hz. Also, as mentioned above, you can't do 4k 120hz on PS5, and I had to get this adapter to get 1080p 120hz working which doesn't work with adaptive sync.
Otherwise it's fantastic and I think 4k at 27" works really well.
Been using mine for 3 months now and I love it, a real gem of a monitor. For those of you who also plan to play their PS4 Pro/PS5 games on it, I recommend a HDMI passthrough like this one so that the monitor can output a downscaled 4K signal with better picture quality than being forced to experience a 1080p image on a 1440p monitor.
buy this

I really shouldn’t have to buy this and almost don’t want to because it may eventually become useless once Sony finally pushes an update to not have such shitty support for display features (vrr, 1440, etc) but..
I read a comment where someone used an EDID emulator like this one on their 1440p monitor so it could accept a 4k signal then downscales to 1440. Something some monitors natively have but not my Dell s2721dgf. And I’d just like to know if others have used something similar and how it’s been for them.
Honestly I’ve been holding out on playing some games I’ve wanted to because the image is just nasty on a 1440p screen showing 1080p content.
I had the same issue. My ps5 locked to 1080p on my 1440p monitor. Each monitor has an edid that defines the inputs it can accept. I bought one of these to trick the ps5 into outputting 4k. You will miss out on HDR and it maxes out at 60hz. The difference is amazing though.
Hello, sorry for my bad english
I have this monitor that i got it specialy for ps5.
i find a solution to have 120hz with ps5 .
i install this emulator :
I try with cold war and it work fine.
If you want a video , i can do it.
Ps5 monitor support is still weird, it still relies on everything to be automated but a lot of monitors don’t support automation. The hdmi adapter lets you do 120hz at 1080p but it heavily relies on the monitor you’re using at this point of time.
Honestly, its on playstation’s end to fix this specific issue. They should just let us force a specific signal to our display like xbox.
You can try using this but you prob dont want to spend any more money than u have to. I use it currently for a 1440p display i have which gives me a 4k signal. I can also do 1080p 120hz but granted i was able to achieve with the astro hdmi adapter alone already. One thing about this adapter is that u have to disable HDCP (cant use media apps like youtube/netfix)
Does the 50 have a USB port? If not, how do you want to upgrade the firmware?
Also this might work:
Does the 50 have a USB port? If not, how do you want to upgrade the firmware?
Some say this changed the EDID timings correctly.
Ps5 does do 1080/120 tho right? That's performance mode for a game like bl3.
And if increase the res to super sample the 4k to my 1440 it'll drop to 60, right?
But I saw people saying that regardless bl3 won't hit 120 on a monitor unless you use this adapter
Its so aggravating to figure all this out man
Ok so I have the same monitor as you ended up getting the 4k version of this emulator EVanlak Hdmi Edid Emulator Passthrough 3rd Generrtion Premium Aluminum Eliminated Emulator Adapter Work with Mac Thunderbolt to HDMI Switches / Extender/AV Receiver 4k 3840x2160@60H https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YMTMMH5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YJ7cGbC93M9P7?psc=1
Make sure you get the 4k version, singles are bo until end of the month. I didn’t wanna wait and got the two pack lol
Hey, hope I'm not too late to this one, but I have the VG27WQ and the following adapter allowed me to get 1080p@120hz:
**EVanlak Hdmi Edid Emulator **https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YMTMMH5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Yeah sure

Make sure the 4k one is selected you need only the 1p not 2p or 3p also if this one isn’t available let me know and ill send you another one
Yes. It’s likely an EDID issue. Projectors are finicky. Old projectors doubly so. I would buy an edid emulator and call it a day.
Been using this one for some time with 0 issues. Laptop was intermittent at best before I got it.

Ugh their new ones are expensive and apparently not being super great.
Evanlak (if you ignore their spelling and english issues hahah) has a Fueran-lookin' clone that might be promising if you can't find a board and supply; looks like they all still break hdcp though
Next time I go to the office I'll root around and see if we have an damaged displays heading to recycling!
You can also use an EDID emulator like this one. It's basically a fake display, the OS thinks it's a monitor but it's just a little dongle. That way Scan Converter has an image to capture.
Yes you can, but you need to use a 4K EDID Emulator. Note that some features may not work like VRR or HDR, and if it is for a PS5, you have to turn off HDCP first.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YMTMMH5/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_HMFAJ4QV16QVHD249NXW_1
You might need a hdmi edid emulator. This is the one that I use. This is assuming that you monitor can display 120 hz natively.
No. You’d need an edid emulator like [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YMTMMH5/](this) one to downscale.
That’s how I have my PS5 setup.
That monitor only supports 120hz at 1440p, which the PS5 doesn't support. At 1080p your locked to 60hz I'm afraid.
Another user from an old post managed to find a workaround for their Lenovo monitor, here:
"So I was finally able to get 120fps on my Lenovo from the PS5. I watched a video on YouTube of how to use an emulator to make it work. It does drop the res down to 1080p but works consistently.
Here’s the adapter I used -

Here’s the video on how to do it - https://youtu.be/rvA81v-tlN0"
I can't speak to how accurate this information is, or whether it would work, but thought you might want to take a look.
Same issue here, this fixed the issue on the HDMI display: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YMTMMH5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you’re eyeing a monitor that doesn’t natively downscale you can try this. It’s an edid emulator that forces the monitor to accept a 4K signal and downscales accordingly. Works on my Dell s2721dgf.
This is the one I use. Disable HDCP first on your PS5 and connect it to your displays hdmi port.
I have an hdmi switch in my setup and it even works by connecting it to that.
This is the exact one I use.
No audio out but I do have it connected to an hdmi switch with optical and 3.5mm out. I don’t have the one I linked but there’s so many different generic brands they come and go. Almost a Frankenstein set up lol.
Hi sorry for the late reply.
I bought an HDMI Edid emulator I recommend This If you have a 4k monitor.
And used that to get 120 fps.
this is the youtube video that explains it way better than I could.
(Note: when you Put the HDMI emulator on the HDMI and then connect it to the
Monitor, there is a chance you might get a black screen if that happens take of the emulator then go to settings--->system---> Hdmi, and turn off HDCP then try putting the Emulator on again and connect it to the monitor after you have turned off the HDCP)
I hope it helps, good luck
It doesn't natively, but in another post about this monitor someone said you can use an HDMI passthrough like this one and it works.
You can easily solve that with this cheap HDMI passthrough which works flawlessly.
This is the one I bought that works for me. Only downside is you need to disable HDCP which disables media apps if you use those on your PS5.
I just ordered this EDID adapter from Amazon, should be here tomorrow and I can report back! The adapter seems to do the same thing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YMTMMH5/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got this one

I’ve had it for about a month it works great
Unfortunately many monitors have issues with 120hz on PS5. The Asus VG248QE is one of them. As mentioned you can try a EDID HDMI Emulator like this one:
EDID HDMI Emulator (Be sure to get the 4k one)
or you buy a new monitor from this list:
https://www.amazon.com/EVanlak-Passthrough-Generrtion-Eliminated-Thunderbolt/dp/B07YMTMMH5 this is the one I got to work
Oh well for like $20 it doesn’t hurt to just try it lol https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YMTMMH5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_UJgdGb3T3MNW3
This is the same one tho right? Had to find it on the us store
If anyone is still looking for a fix and is prepared to spend a little to get 120hz on the ViewSonic XG2402, I managed to get it working using this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVanlak-Generrtion-Passthrough-Eliminated-Thunderbolt-HDMI-EDID-4K-2P/dp/B07YMTMMH5
And following the instructions on this post https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comments/l1g2eb/120hz_fix_cheaper_method/
I have the VG27WQ and the following adapter allowed me to get 1080p@120hz with my ps5:

So it turns out I was wrong! I used the following adapter and I now get 1080p@120hz with my VG27WQ!
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YMTMMH5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Hope this helps someone with the VG27WQ!
I know this is BenQ subreddit, but I can confirm that my Acer Ed273 abidpx 144hz monitor works with this https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07YMTMMH5 emulator/dongle.
I am a bit confused. Are you sure, you got the Acer XF240H? According to the manual it CANNOT do 120hz over HDMI:
As you can see it should support 120hz over DVI or DP.
If it really worked with 120hz over HDMI on your laptop (I still doubt it a bit) you can use a EDID emulator like this:
You need an EDID emulator.
EDIT Sorry, you need something like this.
What hardware are you using? We had this issue for the longest time and ended up fixing it with these I stead of waiting for intel/Crestron/MS to sort it out edid emulator
