Quite small actually, around 200$.
At the moment I'm looking at this GPU for it's small size (not too sure if 2 or 3 fans would fit inside).
Pick me one. I'm so fucking bad at this holy shit.
Also, my friend said I may need a better power supply. Link me one of them things too. My current power supply is 300 wats I think.
which would you recommend? there's EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI...not sure what the difference is
Thanks for your reply
I think the gtx 950 would be best since its not bad for price.
found this one but there are 4 different options, i rather make sure i have everything right is there a big difference in between all of them? Should i be looking at my power supply before making any decisions?
yes, I mean a xeon E3.
Again if you have no plans to game on it now, a video card is an easy thing to add at a later date. this would be a better choice than the 750 Ti if you have to get one now.
Thanks man! I was thinking about dropping around $140-$170 just to get a decent upgrade to keep for a while, and it looks like a 670 is pretty great, but its a bit pricey for $750. I found the 950 which was around 150ish and its not that much worse than the 670. If theres a major difference between the two, I'd love to know.
I appreciate the feedback man!
Great! I think I'm gonna get it then :o Yeah; it was my bday a few days ago, so I'm treating myself. ;) I mean, those still work for ya, yes? Serving the purpose of a good price for something that does the job? :)
For GPU I'm leaning toward a GTX 950 or GTX 1050. There's also a superclocked one, but would that make my computer catch on fire? lol I'm also currently looking into if it works with my computer/motherboard or not.
I've got a GTX 950 (this model). Willing to ship for 90.
Your GPU is definitely your bottleneck here. I'd suggest this GTX 960 SC for $150. Your motherboard however only has a 2.0 PCIe slot so you won't be getting full performance from modern graphics cards that support 3.0. Maybe a GTX 750 Ti at @ $120 would be better because of that limitation.
The GTX 960 SC requires more power than the GTX 750 Ti. I don't know what power supply you've got.
The 950 is far better.
Hmm I'm sorry if I may have mislead you. It appears that Amazon is way more expensive for buying a GTX 950 compared to Newegg and NCIX. The cheapest I could find was this one at 139 dollars: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013WQCC8Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
If you're only able to buy from Amazon then you may have to get a GTX 750 ti instead. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IDG3PRI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
So I think I've settled on a GTX 950 for my PC. I still want to measure the inside of the machine and double check compatibility to be sure but I think it's going to work out.
I've got a couple more questions:
I'm thinking about buying this one as it's pretty inexpensive and looks compact. I noticed there are other versions that have two fans, like this. What's the difference between the two models? Would it be worth it to spend the extra cash on the second GPU instead?
I'm also considering the MSI GTX 950 because it comes the Afterburner software--not something I need, but I would definitely use it if I had it. Would anyone recommend this card over the EVGA, or are they comparable in performance?
Most importantly, I know the new 1070 should be coming out soon. If I wait until after that's released to buy a new GPU, could I expect the price of the GTX 950 to drop?
Thanks for your help everyone!
That's your problem. GTX 750 isn't powerful enough and doesn't meet the requirements. Here's a comparison
>DOOM System Requirements
>MINIMUM: OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions) Processor: Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better Memory: 8 GB RAM
>Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 670 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better
>Storage: 55 GB available space Additional Notes: Requires Steam activation and broadband internet connection for Multiplayer and SnapMap
You have a 1GB VRAM graphics card. DOOM requires 2GB VRAM at a minimum. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your card just can't run the game. You will have to look into getting an upgrade. Fortunately the new AMD RX 480 will be coming out soon and that will only cost $199 for the 4GB version which will be great. And it has low power requirements.
Alternatively if you want to get a card right now, I say the minimum should be a GTX 950. $140 on Amazon right now is a pretty good deal.
id figure youre talking about something like this?
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q
The best he can get is a 950
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q
But you can't afford an ASUS one for that price and there is no reason to either.
I just upgraded my htpc. Here are a couple things to consider if you're going to make the jump to 4k or want to future proof a bit more. I was looking between an i3 and i5 and decided to go with the i5 4590s, which is a low power i5 (65w). I would also consider a 950 GTX, which can output 4k@60hz through hdmi 2.0. The extra cores on the i5 would help with any transcoding. Look at the Noctua NH-L9i for low profile cooler.
The last thing is with playing your bluray collection on windows 10. This can be a pain. I was able to acomplish it using AnyDVD HD and TotalMedia Theater, but you can use VLC, MPC if you prefer.
Love the AsRock board, I have it too :)
That would be better, however I don't know enough about Zotac to recommend them. So my recommendation would be this: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1451276244&sr=1-1&keywords=nvidia+gtx+950
Or this version if you wanted to spend a bit more: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2957-KR/dp/B013WQCC5O/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1451276457&sr=1-1&keywords=EVGA+GeForce+GTX+950+ssc+acx
I would get this instead, better performance and no rebates :)
Yeah, I looked, and the naming scheme seems a bit strange. I looked at it and I'm most likely going to grab a 950
I recommend the EVGA-brand 750 TI GTX card.
You've already upgraded your power supply a bit, but that particular card will run on a minimum 300-watt power supply, and it's a pretty good plug and play option. Also it's $110 or so on Amazon.
Or spend thirty bucks more and get the GTX 950, which has been doing everyone well for years.
But it's your call. Either way will do you very well. Congrats. :)
First off, yes, the motherboard will work with a GTX 960. However, I do NOT recommend that brand. I have never even heard of that brand, and since I know nothing about it, I can't tell you if it's going to fail on you within 6 months or not. The cheapest 900 series card is the 950. You can get an EVGA one here for $150 US http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462647455&sr=8-1&keywords=geforce+gtx+950
I had no issues apart from HDMI audio. This card. http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-02G-P4-2951-KR/dp/B013WQCC8Q
