You've completely missed the point. Like all of the other Wizards' Dice, Maps and/or Miscellany accessories sets, the Laeral Silverhand's Explorer's Kit is a companion to an officially-published book. Descent into Avernus had an accessories set, so did Waterdeep. Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica got two accessories sets, in fact.
The unrevealed book already has an Amazon listing, and the release date is March 17, 2020; the same release date as the Laeral Silverhand's accessories set. This reddit thread is speculation on what the official book will be; a setting supplement, an adventure book, an options-compilation sourcebook, etc.

Batch? Idk, but something is being announced on January 9 according to this Amazon Product Page. Syncs up with the new product featured on Wizards of the Coast's website, too

Honestly, if he's big into Critical Role, he might enjoy some of their merchandise, even if it would be physical stuff. They have their own merch store, and they did a deal with Wyrmwood to make real nice wood dice and carriers. Even if he doesn't use dice in virtual play, dice are still fun to play with for some people. You'd know best; if he has desk toys or fiddles with coins, dice would be effective.
I've personally loved getting hardcover copies of the official books too. Check to see if he has any of the books. If he doesn't have a physical copy of CR's official material, it might make a good gift, even if he has a digital version.
