Here's one for $14 from Amazon that plugs into a USB port. But the whole situation is ridiculous. EHRs were supposed to be interoperable. We've invested decades and billions of dollars in an EHR infrastructure that is broken beyond repair, and will never be able to work as intended. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To me it sounds like your drive is defective, sorry.
Last ditch effort would be to remove all the drivers again and perform a clean install. If that doesn't help you should send it in and get it replaced.
To help out your problem, if you order an external usb dvd drive from amazon today it should arrive until tomorrow. They aren't very expensive, here is a good one http://www.amazon.com/External-Windows98-Notebook-Dustproof-Scratch-Resistant/dp/B00X7DH5GE/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1449246710&sr=8-8&keywords=usb+dvd+drive
Sorry I couldn't help more!
If you're fine with renting them, you could sign up for a month of Netflix's DVD rental service for under $10, and get an external DVD drive for $14 from Amazon.
