I recommend https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ -- it comes with a connector on the other end in 90 degree and 180 degree angles. I had to pick up a replacement because the riser cable in my Thermaltake Core P5 was utter crap, and this has been solid for me under anything I can throw at my GPU.
I bought this one from EZDIY on Amazon. It has good reviews but it's just not working out for me. They did send me the replacement pretty fast so their customer service is good. I have a Thermaltake Core P3 case and avoided their own cable due to the bad reviews. Ironically, I ended up having problems with another brand's cable.
This one is tough as nails. Mine has been used for various protyping builds and has been badly abused, but still comes back for more.
Top Slot, PCIE 3.0. Nvidia shows the GPU is pulling about 380W in time spy. Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z490 AORUS Master. One thing I didn't mention was I'm using this...I just thought about it and wonder if it is the issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
>pcie riser cable
brilliant.
I think I will get this and then cut an opening on the top cover of the case to run the riser through, and fabricate a custom external mount for the GPU.
I wish they made a PCIe x16 riser with a smaller, round cable but I cannot find any such thing.
That is a great idea. The card is currently being held in with a cable extension, but maybe something came loose. I will check that now.

I will also try booting in safe mode as well.
Good to know I ordered mine from superbuy/taobao 2 weeks ago. . :)
Would this work? 20$ is pretty cheap compared to the more common 40 neeeded by more and .ore cases
Very nice, I've got the same case and I'm about to go down the custom loop rabbit hole. I would also recommend this riser cable to save a bit of money over the Thermaltake one, I haven't had any issues with it whatsoever.
If the risers give you problems, order this, it's cheap as dirt and reliable as a rock.
EZDiy risers are easily the best cheap riser cables. I have 2. 1 I use for prototyping, and it has been folded, unfolded, rolled and perversely manipulated into a hundred different shapes and it always comes back for more. Dunno why so many companies have trouble with this.
Which is good, because the riser cable they come with crap out. You do NOT want thermaltakes riser cable. Buy a legit one from 3M or something, and make sure its shielded! This is the one I bought (no affiliation or anything), been using it for months without problems:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just bought this one for my build (I'm building in the p3 as well). Specifically bought the p3 without cable due to so many complaints about their riser cable. https://www.amazon.com/Express-Flexible-Extension-Adapter-Card-25cm/dp/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1513611105&sr=8-3&keywords=pcie+riser+cable
cut out one of the expansion slot support bars, zip tied the GPU bracket to the case (I passed the zip ties through the ventilation holes), connect the GPU using this extension cable then made a metal bracket to support the card on the other side.
Before I tried watercooling, I had slightly higher 3dmark benches with the risers than without. I assume it's either standard score fluctuation, or perhaps slightly better due to more airflow, but there certainly wasn't any noticeable drop as I was kinda worried about. No artifacting/fps drops/crashing like I've heard.
I have a sound card behind the SLI setup as well that's nice and hidden with another riser, but they work great.
edit: not using the Thermaltake risers. Using these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2x 25cm and 1x 9cm
It's a thermaltake p3. The case comes with the mounts to mount it vertical like that. Supposed to come with the riser cable too but mine didn't, just had to order one after Amazon refunded me $30 to order one. But this is the cable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uzKFyb8EMKGQS

i finished a build in this case yesterday (blue led version) and the build quality actually surprised me. one thing i didn’t expect was that the back panel is also glass but it is tinted to make the cables less obvious. so $45 for a case with 3 glass panels is a steal. cable management was a breeze with plenty of space on the back side for routing. also includes two velcro straps for the I/O bundle similar to Fractal Design cases. you never see those in budget cases. the quick release drive trays are nice quality and slide apart to allow for easy install of the drive. never seen that style in any other case before. the other feature that adds value is the built in vertical GPU mount. a conversion bracket is normally $30-$40 by itself. you will need to buy a riser cable which is $17 on Amazon:

Max temps from HWMonitor after running Unigine Heaven for 90 minutes:
i7 3770k w/ Hyper 212 cooler: 53C
EVGA GTX 970 in vertical orientation: 69C
surprisingly good airflow. front panel has adequate openings on the sides and bottom. adding one or two exhaust fans to the top panel will help if your components run hot. there are several open fan headers on the included fan hub that you can easily connect to. my main gripe is that the fan header is powered via a molex connector which we all know are sometimes a pain to attach. also, don’t expect the lighting on the fans to be as nice as the Deepcool Matrexx or upHere RGB fans. the LED’s line the perimeter of the fan which is a bit cheesy IMO but you can’t really complain at this price point.

Mine didn't have one either and I just contacted Amazon and they refunded me $30 to buy one and I ordered this one and it's been working great. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uzKFyb8EMKGQS
It was from an Amazon seller called EZDIY. They released a new model of the cable pretty pricey but pretty nice.
Edit: link
Here's the exact one I bought. I absolutely needed the 25cm cable because my GPU is extra wide.

Thanks! So to be clear, you used this one? https://www.amazon.com/EZDIY-FAB-Express-PCIe3-0-Flexible-Extension/dp/B01NH0GW7Z?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Mine definitely seemed like it was seated correctly, but there was also a lot more play than I thought was normal.
Try this, might work for you.
Get a PCI-E Extension cable:
https://www.amazon.com/EZDIY-FAB-Express-PCIe3-0-Flexible-Extension/dp/B01NH0GW7Z

Mount the gfx card flat using Board Edge mounting kits: https://kjdelectronics.com/products/adafruit-board-edge-mounting-kit?variant=31075352543350
get some small washers. use two above the corner of the board you're gripping and 2 below, position the feet so you can wedge the board in between the 4 washers you put on the top screw, tighten down the top screw so the washers "grip" the board. (Make sure you're not making contact with any on-board components or bridging any traces on the board with metal washers)
i got the NZXT h500i which has the vertical gpu mount and the pcie riser card
here are the links https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for the riser card and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C3T1V95/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for the case with the vertical gpu mount. i wouldnt really say it is better since the gpu temperature rises by quite a bit but it looks cooler
These are nice and heavy duty. Good quality.
They've got other configs too, so you can go right angle if you think that would be better.
I'm going with this: EZDIY NEW PCI Express 16x Flexible Cable Card Extension Port Adapter High Speed Riser Card-25cm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rSq3zb1ZV0F9S
I’ve had good luck with the shorter version of this brand’s.
EZDIY NEW PCI Express 16x Flexible Cable Card Extension Port Adapter High Speed Riser Card-25cm
I've used the $27 EZDIY riser for several months now. It's been installed and reinstalled numerous times. I've folded it flat and unfolded it without issue.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've also used the $45 HDPlex riser. It's even better, rather than being encased in a fabric tape, it's embedded into a flexible silicon sheet. https://www.hdplex.com/hdplex-silicon-pciex16-3-0-flexible-riser.html
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 I have the 25 cm version, but they also have 9, 15, and 20 cm. Mine has served me well.
this is the one I'm using :
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This 25 cm long version?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NH0GW7Z
I tried searching for a longer one on amazon.com and it resulted in an URL that was so long that my 27" 2560x1440 screen couldn't display all of it.
Yup! This one is working great for my 1080Ti. Seems like a lot of people are going after this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NH0GW7Z/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And here is the product. I went through the sellers items and found it.
