It's a decent stand, but I'll caution against it for multiple monitors. The joints are either way too loose or way too stiff. I can never get my 2 monitors lined up correctly. I usually keep a level at my desk so I can put it on the monitor and readjust a couple times per week.
I'm not using exactly this same mount, but same brand
A standardized set of mounting holes in the back for a stand such as this one
Yeah - I have monitor stands at work to raise them up (my laptop and other items can go underneath) and I have a dual monitor desk clamp at home ([link]). It's frees up so much space... which I promptly fill with old mail and other garbage.
I'd suggest something like this on the couch facing side.
You can get Vesa desk mounts and have one monitor mounted to that to the side of your desk.

Which dual monitor stand should I go for? First time buying a stand like this
EZM vs VIVO
Most mounts can do this. Each arm is adjustable so you can have one side angled inwards. Something like this: [link]
Yep, quick Google [link]
Just make sure which ever you buy supports both 75x75 and 100x100
something like this?
or maybe a fancy one?
it's a pretty solid mount and i like it. wide enough for 2 27".
If you're looking to save space, I'd get some wall mounts for your monitors (or at least a desktop mount capable of keeping two monitors of that size stable) and make do with a desk like this:
I can tell you from experience that it's a good sturdy desk. You don't have to attach the wheels and the height is adjustable so that you can use it from a standing or a sitting position, or maybe even somewhere in between depending on the height of your chair.
If you're still trying to go for that 'L' shape you mentioned, just bag yourself two of them and corner them accordingly. If not, then perhaps just get a small and sturdy enough desk to keep your tower on and put the main desk next to it. Also, don't underestimate the functionality of a good filing cabinet.
Oh, don't worry about not having room, there are ways around that.
What about this one? [link]
This is it
They have it at Fry's electronics and do price matching if there is one in your area and you don't want to wait on shipping
This one is awesome. I use it myself. I opened the box and was absolutely amazed at how sturdy it was for the price. Just be aware that you probably will need a second set of hands to mount the monitors.
I think it was this one. [link]
Your desks are great. Only thing I'd worry about is how loud each other's presence is
VESA stands on those monitors would be good for your necks and spines :D [link]
If you want less loud keyboards that are still very mechanical: [link]
Also putting some plush things around the room (or other soft things behind your computers), would help decrease noise. There are also acoustic tiles that do okay to help dampen: [link] (lots of different colors)
