I recently bought a portable TENS unit from Amazon for $27 - it's been an amazing purchase so far and really helps with my bone and joint issues.
Here's a link if you want to give it a try: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RmOFxbHST306X
TENs machine is a crap-shoot, sometimes it helps, others not so much. There is a decent TENs unit on Amazon for <$30
I finished a Prednisone course last week, and I am just this moment having to use it again, the back pain is flaring up. I have several discs that are 'obliterated', complicated by diabetic neuropathy and DDS.
Not 100% certain if I am allowed to link, but just in case I have to remove the link - it is the one that is usually sitting for around $25-30 on Amazon with a 4.4 rating and over 7000 reviews. We have been very impressed and happy with it!

This is my doctors advice to me - "Just get one on amazon".
He said that there really isn't a reason to pay a lot of money for a fancy machine when the regular quality ones for home use work fine. This is the unit that I have been using and it works fine for me. But my only comparison is to the extra fancy ones they have at the chiro office. I hope it helps!
I got mine on amazon it is LIFE CHANGING. for so many things. even if you aren't in pain, you can pop it on your shoulders for a nice massage lmao. mine was like 20 bucks! and the replacement stickies aren't too expensive either. I would recommend grabbing an extra pack of them just so you don't get annoyed when you run out of the stickies that come with it! you can reuse them a good bit, but once they lose their sticki-ness is when I throw them out.

the one I've got ^ :)
(just realized it's closer to 30 bucks, my memory sucks!)
I suffer from chronic back pain and I started using a TENs unit several months ago and after using it daily for a month or so I have less and less need for it.
I only got it because my wife bought one to deal with some pain issues that she was having in her legs and I couldn't believe that this thing helped me with my wonky back.
I bought this one from Amazon, but your neck may be feeling better by the time they could get it to you, but if it's something that you're dealing with this on a regular basis you may want to look into one of these.
Yeah specialist appointments of any kind can be super prohibitively expensive (definitely in the US, im not sure if you're in canada or US or where)
that sounds awful. I know how my back gets when I just have a tight muscle, it can be terrible. Having scar tissue instead of muscle is almost unfathomable to me, damn.
A possible home therapy you could do that is also done by chiropractors (I had it done every visit) is electrical stim. Here's one similar to the one I have. It kindof loosens tensed up muscles. Not sure if it would have benefit or not on the scarred side, but may be able to release tension in the side that's compensating.
Anyways I'm sending you some good vibes this afternoon fam, Stay strong. In 30 years they can give you a body transplant LOL
Interim fix: Tens unit I used this baby on my Hell Days and it kept me functional. Not great, but I didn't want to die either. Just put the little sticky pads where it hurts and play around with the settings. My personal favorite was Tap on 3 or 4.
Long-term: push your doctor to do a laparoscopic (sic?) surgery for endometriosis. I had surgery 2 years ago and it changed my life, no joke. If you're in the PDX/Vancouver area, Dr. Cynthia McNally is aces. 1000/10 recommend.

I got health mates on Amazon, only $30 which is cheap but they last only about a year for me because I used it primarily for back issues & would catch the leads on stuff, being careless & doing rougher work stuff, also dropping it🤷. They have small pads, multiple settings, auto shut off & availability for 2 or 4 leads depending on area you're covering & battery operated. If you want wireless, I can't help. Just letting you know what I ended up doing.

This is the one I have. It's great. One used it for various issues. Even helped my tendonitis in my elbow.
I think I've finally found it after about 2 minutes on Amazon, and pausing of the video on YouTube, it seems to be this one right here
If that's not it please let me know lol
I love mine paid 30 for it on Amazon have had it for 4 years still using the same batteries and I forget to turn it off. It feels like current. Like being shocked but not so painful. It does help wit the pain honestly sadly you can’t have it on non stop 24 hours a day. The cables are cumbersome sometimes I wake up wrapped in them with the sticky pads stuck to weird parts of my body or bed lol. Before my surgery in which they found a giant mass I had no pain meds nothing bc of COVID and having no doctor. TMI but I stuck those pads almost internally and I would sleep for 60 -90 min intervals, the max amount if time of the tens, the unit saved me. I am youngish 37 and my body is like 100 so I have back and tail bone pain and shoulder issues lol I use the tens for all of those aches and muscle aches and it helps. Obviously not a cure but has been so beneficial. I bought a smaller one and it didn’t last.
This is the one I have

My cycle is currently like this. I don't bleed very much because of the birth control. I generally get cramps and low back pain starting about week before my period officially starts. The cramps come and go and then come back again when the bleeding starts.
For back pain, my tens unit is a life saver. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_qWXeTsiJqGYKr
This is the one I have. I use the pads mostly on my low back, and legs. You can supposedly use it for cramps in the front, but personal don't find that helpful.
For belly pain I see my gastro for IBS (that may have been cause by Endo 🤷♀️) Several of my prescriptions really help, so I would suggest seeing a gastro. Over the counter recommendations would be heating pads, anti acids, easy to digest food, and anything to help with nausea. Ibprophen can mess up your stomach, so keep an eye on how much you take and if you notice stomach pain after taking it. I can no longer take any NSAIDs because of this. Sometimes taking herbal leg cramping medications help
I also using a CBD cream/balm for both back pain and cramps. MuscleMX is currently my favorite brand to buy from.
I hope some of this helps
I got this one. But I bought mine back in 2018. There’s probably better ones now.

I struggle with these as well. Congratulations on making the progress you’ve made so far, that’s huge!!
I’m just going to add a few things that are helpful for me. Sometimes I use all of them, sometimes I only need one.
My agoraphobia comes with a host of physical symptoms like vomiting, which is fun. So something that physically kinda takes me out of it a little is my tens unit. You can find them for about $30 online. I bought this one on Amazon... HealthmateForever YK15AB TENS unit EMS Muscle Stimulator 4 outputs 15 https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_R4AVENTKAFV8BQNMKXA2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I put two of the sticky things on my wrists about two to three inches down from my hand and use the acupuncture setting and start low and turn it up if I’m really feeling super anxious.
I also have two apps that help me mellow out when I’m in my head too much. I use the anxiety relief app. Which works really well with headphones. It’s about 23 minutes long and it’s one of the only things that I’ve found that can calm me down when I’m starting to spiral.
Another fantastic app is the Calm app. There’s a whole section for anxiety. One great one under the meditate section is called Panic SOS. There’s a 4 min and a 10 min. Those work really well with anticipation, I also struggle a lot with anticipation.
And just in my head... I do deep breathing and I say to myself... “anxiety is just a sensation”. And also “when has there ever been a time where you couldn’t handle “the thing you’re doing right now”. Then say never!! And kinda try to give myself confidence, even if it feels forced.
None of these are a perfect fix, but combined, have helped me a lot over the years.
Sure thing! Just fyi it can be a bit jolting at first because you're basically shocking a sensitive part of your body, and it can feel ticklish, but it's effective! I got mine after I saw an ad for Livia on Facebook and someone in the comments said that it was just a low-powered TENS unit so I did a bit of research and got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_L57SFbHEN7EQH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I'd consider getting a TENS unit, something like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W
I personally own that one, although it does break kind of easily if dropped. There are others that are available on Amazon as well. Walmart may have a few. Get one where you can replace the electrodes, can help in situations like this.
You might think about getting a TENS Unit. This one is cheap but effective and they used one on me at Physical Therapy after my stroke for my left hand. I already had one at home because they're great for massages but they also can be used to force the hand to flex (completely painlessly) for a set period of time.
They also had me do little dexterity activities like flipping a large bottle cap with my left hand, stacking cups, or using my left hand to pick marbles out of a bowl of rice one by one.
I used this one after my hip surgery and plan to use it for my home labor (birth center has their own if I want it there). I loved it for my hip and general back pain
Maybe a tens unit? FDA cleared HealthmateForever YK15AB TENS unit Electronic Pulse Massager Tennis Elbow,Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,Arthritis, Bursitis, and other Inflammation Ailments Patent No.USD723178S https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_zlqFAb26TXP3A
I can relate to this! I probably have more weird coping mechanisms than I am aware of, but one that I didn’t expect to work the way it did was to use a TENS unit at night - Somehow the electronic zaps to my muscles are effective in quieting my brain and relaxing me. It even makes me fall asleep a lot of times, which is revolutionary for me because literally no medication I’ve ever tried causes me to fall asleep (and I’ve tried 15+ types of meds for this). I have a very stubborn and deeply rooted sleep refusal problem when it is nighttime.
If you don’t know what a TENS is and want to check it out, this link is to the device I use.

I bought the tens unit on amazon. It has multiple settings and the one I use the most is the “acupuncture “ setting . It’s this one. It’s like a personal massage https://www.amazon.com/HealthmateForever-Electronic-Arthritis-Inflammation-No-USD723178S/dp/B00O7CM12W
I highly recommend a TENS unit. It's used in physical therapy and really helped my SI joint/hip pain. This is the one I use and it's great because it has so many attachments you can really get the hip from all sides.
I love my TENS unit! It's electro shock therapy and my pain management specialist got me hooked. It's honestly better than my medication at times and it shouldn't be bad for your little bun on board. Disclaimer: i'm neither pregnant nor have I done any research about pregnancy and TENS units so you'd want to err on the safe side, but it's at least worth looking into. Mine's been a life saver.
This is the one I have. I've tried several, both more expensive, and less eastern-medicine-y, and for whatever reason, this one gives me life.
Magnesium supplements helped me a lot with muscle tension. My electrolytes get out of whack.
Also a TENS unit helps when I'm just completely knotted up and can't get to a massage therapist. It basically massages your muscles by subjecting them to mild electric shock. My husband thinks I'm nuts but I like how it feels.
I got this one from Amazon.
I find something like this helps a lot with my pain, however temporarily.
Electronic Pulse Massager for Electrotherapy Pain Management -- Pain Relief Therapy : Chosen by Sufferers of Tennis Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Arthritis, Bursitis, Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Sciatica, Back Pain, Fibromyalgia, Shin Splints, Neuropathy and other Inflammation Ailments Patent No. USD723178S https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7CM12W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5CCcyb5ADW8ZF
Best thing in my life right now! I bartend on the weekends. Did two weddings and a birthday party back to back on top of being a driver for uber and my full time job caregiving for the mentally disabled. This saves my back especially when our wheelchair lift blew a gasket and had to manually transfer my clients to and from their chairs/beds.
yeah look just like a tens machine as mention below
This is my favorite one, long battery life, and good power, plus 8 hook ups
Ginger, teleport, vignette, play timed sessions and stop BEFORE you feel “funny” and do this every day, get a tms kit on amazon and run it below your palm while you play : amazon, use the natural locomotion app on steam, take breaks, ginger tea, Benadryl
Have had sciatica off an on for close to two decades. where is your pain?
my pain points are in the right outer hip and right butt. when it shoots the pain goes across my lower back and sometimes can feel pain in my lower abdomen. When I walk down stairs or put weight on my right leg it feels like I'm going collapse as there's no strength. standing out of bed or leaning over 1/2 way is pain. additional symptoms are extreme tightness in my right calve and hamstring.
Haven't got it officially diagnosed, but have had my back X-rayed the day after a massive attack. No visible problems in the disc, other than normal arthritis for my age. Last two years it has come on around November, after the long summer. Summers I tend to do a lot of bike riding down the beach (20 mile bike rides). My theory is my legs (thighs & hamstrings) along with calves become too tight from being overworked. they pull on butt cause my lower back to become weak. combined with an office job sitting in a chair that pinches sciatic nerve that shots to the outer hip. it's a multiple combo problem that takes usually about 3 months+ to unwind.
things that I try to do to relieve the pain:
1 - yoga
2 - massages. if can't get a masseuse regularly try getting a Tens device on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O7CM12W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
3 - ibuprofen. I haven't got into prescription pain meds, I hate how they make me feel depressed. Aleve can be tough on your stomach. it makes me shit blood so I stick with Ibuprofen
4 - this has been the most effective of nearly everything. Get an old T-shirt. fold it vertically to about 5 inches wide. roll it into a ball. wrap it in tape. lay on the floor. stuff the rolled up t-shirt under you butt. lay there for at least a 1/2 hr. can watch tv doing it. some people say doing it with tennis balls, but that's not dense enough to get the blood flowing. or golf balls people say, but those don't cover enough surface area. Move the ball around occasionally. getting to the outer hip is tough but can be done.
5 - foam rollers. they can work somewhat but the t-shirt ball is more effective on a deep massage. i have this one and like it over the smooth surface type of rollers as the little nobs can get to tight muscle knots https://www.gaiam.com/products/05-61793_2
6 - acupuncture. I did it 2 years ago about 2 months into the pain & tightness. two sessions and I really didn't see any improvement. but then 2 months later I had the most insane shooting nerve experience up S1/S2 nerve. It literally dropped me to the floor. Don't know if was directly from the acupuncture session, but it was scarier than shit. the shooting nerve literally cracked my back right in the pelvis.
7 - core exercises. your lower body is overworked. need to balance out the body with core strength. most effective for me is while doing yoga.
since you've already had a doctor visit, get him to write you a PT prescription. I haven't tried a chiropractor yet. been thinking about it as have a couple decent recommendations.
I love kort. My insurance required a referral. But my pcp is happy to give email me on. Or call them. OP if you have on going bad back pad. I got a tens unit and a foam roller. Below is then exact tens unit I got and the link to foam roller is an example of the one I got. Both help a lot! I have two degenerating lower disk from running. Also i have to sit a lot at work so I use a yoga ball for a chair because moving hips side to side and front to back really helps during work day

You're welcome, fucking scratches that itch better than a tennis ball and you can watch a movie or play video games while you do it.
Any TENS unit that’s at least two channels, like this one from Amazon It has four channels, will do everything you need it to and it’s very easy on the wallet.
I don’t recommended spending your money on themes you see on TV commercials like the Dr. Ho’s branded machines because you’re not really getting enough features for the cost, and I think their leads/electrode connections might be proprietary so they could be pricey to replace).
TENS leads are usually a standard pin or standard snap. The electrode are also fairly standardized and work the same, the different shapes and sizes just provide different area coverage. I’ve never had reason so use anything but the 2”x2” squares that are most common. The electrodes themselves do lose their stickiness after a few uses but they still conduct the current just fine, I use plain paper medical tape to stick them on instead of buying new ones very often. I’ve also ordered electrodes in bulk from eBay and they worked just fine.
If you were ready to spend the extra money for a higher end machine and wanted any extra features like pre programmed current patterns or a rechargeable battery (or If your insurance covers it like mine did, but you may need to provide them with a doctor’s or physiotherapist’s written recommendation as a pain management therapy) there’s many good units that will last years and years. I recommend a StimTec Neo specifically as that’s the one I personally own and use everyday. I’ve never had an issue with it, and the pre-programmed patterns are fantastic. Mine was purchased through my physiotherapist’s office but you can definitely order it online. Here’s one place but it’s Canadian, I’m not sure where you’re located. You could definitely search around and find one that has the exact features you want it to have.
A few safety precautions I should mention: just like any electrical current, don’t put it over or around the heart area of your chest, or over your carotid, or on your forehead and give yourself an electrical lobotomy. If you have a pacemaker, ask your doctor make sure it’s safe for you to use one at all!
Hope that helped, and again feel free to ask any questions you have and I’ll do my best to answer them! :)
>Does any of this sound familiar?
YES. 100% yes this is incredibly familiar and reminds me of my experience before diagnosis. You shouldn't be in this much pain and you definitely shouldn't have to suffer in silence. Check out this website and look at all of the pelvic conditions listed. Based on what you wrote, you may have one or more of these conditions.
>Why doesn’t it bother me any other time?
It only bothers you at the time of your period because the endometrial tissue that has grown outside of your uterus is trying to "shed" like the lining of the uterus does during menstruation. However, it has nowhere to go since it's not in your uterus. This causes severe pain and sometimes bleeding and scarring on whatever the tissue touches- whether it be your uterus, colon, or bladder. This could explain your pain with peeing, especially. I have the exact same problem to this day- Azo occasionally gives me relief.
>Is there anything you do to curb the pain?
So. Many. Things. And despite everything I do, it sometimes still hurts. I made a list in r/endometriosis of my ultimate pain help list. I'll link it here.
In this post, I barely mentioned birth control as a strategy to help pain. If you aren't already on birth control, I highly recommend it. It can completely solve the problem for a lot of people, or at least rid you of the pain. There are many different types though, so talk to your doctor to find what's right for you.
In this post I also mention the Livia. Now, after research, I have discovered that it's the same as any other TENS unit, just more portable. If you don't want to shell out a crap ton of money for a portable one, Amazon has a great one for only $25 here. You can also buy bigger electrodes to deal with the pain. You can find lots of those on amazon.
If you have looked at Vital Health and everything else and think this is you, I recommend going to a specialist if you can afford it. Surgery will be a waste if it isn't a wide excision surgery; that's why my first surgery didn't work and only worsened my pain. Most doctors just use a laser to get rid of what they see, but this is ineffective. Endometriosis is like an iceberg; you can only see a little bit on the outside, but there's a lot more hiding underneath the surface. That's why only a select few surgeons are qualified to do this procedure. You can find a list of surgeons that do this procedure on r/endometriosis and on Nancy's Nook Facebook group.
Lastly, know this: You are not crazy. It is not "just a period." In fact, endometriosis was listed as one of the top 20 most painful conditions according to the NIH. Many people will not be understanding, but you'll be shocked to find out that those who do understand REALLY understand and will help you through this entire journey. I promise you it WILL get better. You have a lot of options to pursue before you should ever even consider giving up. Come join r/endometriosis and we will help you throughout this entire journey. You can see many posts there from people going through the same thing you are.
I wish you the best with your journey! If you have any questions or concerns or if this information was too much at once and you need clarification, do not hesitate to pm me. :) You are so strong for suffering in silence this long, but you shouldn't have to suffer like that anymore. Stay strong! It will help a lot.
Hi! I do not have experience with a twisted fallopian tube, but definitely do with endometriosis. Just like you, I am still rather young- 18- so I do understand the struggle of dealing with this at such a young age.
A connection I've noticed with endometriosis is it generally starts a cycle of pain after some sort of trauma to the abdomen. For you, you had a twisted fallopian tube, and then the endo pain came with a vengeance. For me, I had kidney stones with multiple stents and ureteroscopies which touched off my endo. I suppose this isn't necessarily helpful so much as interesting.
On the help side of things, I did write this post dealing with pain and the ways I approach treating it. I would like to add that since I am currently in a flare, my doctor has added hydrocodone, meloxicam, and flexeril to help with the pain. These types of plans are likely something to be discussed with your OBGYN. I am on these medicines purely because we want to avoid the ER at all costs.
I also want to add that the Livia is ridiculously expensive, although it is much more portable. You can go to Amazon for a TENS unit for $25 that has varying modes and you can experiment to find which works best. I got this one. It has worked wonders. :)
Another newer tip I have is to take 3 ibuprofen, 3 times a day, starting 3 days before your period is due. This helps the pain before it begins. The sooner you start with pain management, the better.
You may also want to consider finding a wide excision surgeon to potentially fix your pain long term. I believe you can find a link in this subreddit, but you can also find a list in Nancy's Nook, a facebook group for endometriosis. I am actually going to an excision specialist next week! Very excited!
Other than that, stay strong. It's really hard having such a painful disease at such a young age, but it's possible to push through. Take rest when you need it, and take advantage of every good pain day you have. You can do this :)
Hope this helps!

>No problem. You dont want electrodes on either side of your heart or brain, but aside from that placement is up to you. You just dont want the current to travel across those organs. Dont be afraid to play with it a bit. Depending on the model, there should be 3 or 4 different adjustments you can make to the waveform besides how strong it is. You can adjust how deep it penetrates and the "size" of the wave. Also how the consistency of the current. I like mine to "roll" but you need to adjust the strength of current with it constant. Some newer models (mine is at least 20) have a bunch of preprogrammed settings that you can't really change. Just work with what you have. Sleeping with it can cause the electrode to fall off as you move in your sleep. That can cause it to "bite". The conductive gel they sell can help that a bit, but use it sparingly. I think I still have my original tube, if that gives you an idea how much to use. Something about the conditions found in a refrigerator will prolong the life of the electrodes. It sounds like you have a back issue, so I strongly suggest getting a big electrode that covers more area. Definitely worth the money. I hope it helps.

I have this one. I can adjust the intensity and the speed, movement depends on what button I hit. I tend to use the knead, Which is most of a gradual pulse up and pulse down.
I didn't know you could sleep with them. I'd read in a few places to only use them about 20 minutes at a time so you don't toast your skin.
I have chronic back pain, myofascial pain syndrome, and hyper mobility. So I get pain in all kinds of fun places, but the bulk of it does tend to be in my back. I'll make a note to look for bigger electrodes. I want to make sure tens actually does something for me before I spend a bunch of money.
Thanks for the info! I do tend to lounge in bed lot since it's less stress on my back, and wanted to be sure that I could lay on the electrodes. XD
Oh no, that's a conundrum. I'd see if you could get a tens machine for at home then, its kinda awesome. Mines old but it's kinda like this one
Similar to a TENS device?
Are we talking about the same thing? Mine is is a remote control with pads you stick onto yourself. Electronic Pulse
Btw, in case anyone hasn't heard of these, they are great for (my) pain and especially recent injuries.

Oh and once the PMS part is over, don't forget the cramps are next. Better order one of these now and win a husband of the year award.
I have this and it is great. I used to have a more expensive unit and I can say that this one is just as good and the price is fantastic.

Ginger, teleport, vignette, play timed sessions and stop BEFORE you feel “funny” and do this every day, get a tms kit on amazon and run it below your palm while you play : amazon, use the natural locomotion app on steam, take breaks, ginger tea, Benadryl. Do not play until you get sick. Your brain has something called fear learning, and it can make you quickly associate false negative feelings towards something that would otherwise be fine. Sort of a “I get sick just thinking about it” kind of thing. So. Don’t push it. Do things to reduce neuroticism. Studies have found a correlation between that and a tendency to motion sickness.
