I just recently setup an older family's 4K firestick
It was incredibly fast and responsive inside the UI
That's a major major for me; the number one requirement for me.
I can recommend the Amazon firestick.
And you have no other devices capable of displaying Netflix on the big screen aside from consoles? Or you just prefer using a controller?
> For me, it doesn't feel like a minor inconvenience, it feels like a whole new purchase.
I'm not sure what you mean by that? The value proposition of the Switch totally changes for you, or you feel like you need to buy something else to compensate for the lack of Netflix on Switch? Either way, if you value something that can utilize streaming services over a gaming console, then you should just buy something aside from a gaming console...
I get "just buy more" can be an abrasive argument, but I'm assuming you have at least a little bit of disposable income if you can afford gaming consoles. Check out an Amazon Fire Stick. It's $40, and it comes with a remote that uses Alexa that blows any other type of input out of the water. I have no trouble with the voice recognition (despite having a thick accent), and you can just speak the title of a movie on the home screen for the OS, and it will pull it up in any streaming service its offered on. You click one button, and it launches the streaming app and pulls the movie up for you. It's amazing.
I forgot to mention in the chat. I know some people paying cable subscription. You can avoid monthly feeing by just buying this device on Amazon called Firestick on Amazon. It's on sale right now for $35. You can basically use for watching all TV shows (including netflix & disney) and movies w/out paying subscription. You just need to install this app called Cinema HD. Just look up youtube on how to download it.

Plus the stick is on sale. It did go up $5, so not as good as it was a week ago.
Limited-time deal: Fire TV Stick 4K streaming device with latest Alexa Voice Remote (includes TV controls), Dolby Vision https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XVYZ1Y5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_NTPSRDT13XWZSQKQK4HV
Yes it should work.. to be honest though a Amazon fire stick remote will cost you $29, so for $5 more you can get a 4k firestick for $34… https://www.amazon.com/all-new-fire-tv-stick-4k-with-alexa-voice-remote/dp/B08XVYZ1Y5/ref=sr_1_1?crid=93Z2POZ56SMX&dchild=1&keywords=4k+fire+stick&qid=1635505008&sprefix=4k+fi%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-1
I doubt such thing exists, but you can make your own:
You use the OTG cable between the power source and the Fire TV Stick. You transfer the videos to the Flash drive and then connect it to the OTG cable.
You can use the NFL+ app on an Amazon Fire stick (only $27) and it works perfectly.
They sell on Amazon for $29.99

Rather than picking up a new TV, a cheap streamer stick might be worth a try. Either a Chromecast (currently on sale for $40), or a Fire TV stick 4K for $30 would be cheap ways to bypass the slower Sony processing and hopefully improve the experience.
This might work.
For what it’s worth, amazon has it for $50 and there’s a $20 coupon on there so it would be $30.
Looks like it’s in stock on the US site too.
The absolute cheapest device for that has to be the Onn Stick & Box. I would look at the Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max (if you want future proof and AV1 video codec support)
Onn 1080p Stick $15 (Supports everything but AV1)
https://www.walmart.com/ip/onn-FHD-Streaming-Device/148740640
Onn 4k box $19 (Supports everything but AV1)

Amazon Fire Stick 4k $30 (Supports everything but AV1)

Amazon Fire Stick 4K MAX $40 (Supports everything INCLUDING AV1)

FireTV 4K is on sale for $25 today and has an Apple TV App: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08XVYZ1Y5
If you don't need 4K, the regular version is just $20: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08C1W5N87
For high res music streaming (up to 24/192kHz) with high level of sound quality and low budget, I use these two devices for total of about $50:
Firestick 4K currently $25
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XVYZ1Y5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
HDMI digital audio extractor $23
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YNFVH8Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
One does need a TV of some kind to choose menu, etc, but the digital audio extracted from Firestick can be sent to any outboard DAC or receiver with internal DAC for Stereo audio. This combo sounds MUCH better than I expected, and I'm coming from years of spending much more money on audiophile products for audio. Amazon music HD sound quality is excellent via this setup btw.
You're in luck, it's 50% off today.
Another option is to get a Limited-time deal: Fire TV Stick 4K streaming device with Alexa Voice Remote (includes TV controls), Dolby Vision https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XVYZ1Y5/ for $25,
And install SmartTubeNext APK 13.52 Download Official (2021) https://smarttubenext.com/ — It not only blocks ads, but it has iSponsorBlock built in. Works great!
A 2021 Model Fire Stick 4k is currently on sale for $24.99 on Amazon.
