My insurance told me it covers stuff outside the property itswlf as well. For example : go on vacation out of state. Laptop gets stolen. Its covered by renters insurance.
I dont know if they all have this. Mine does.
Also, buy one of these. Fireproof bag Amazon has a bunch of different kinds. Put your important receipts and other various riff raff in there.
