Since you're using a small and light TV, and space is definitely an issue, you're probably looking at something like an A/V stand/cabinet to keep everything in if you want it all in one place. (Or a sturdy short bookshelf with open back...) If it's NYC, though, you've probably got a decent chance of finding something used if not free.

If 27.5" is your height limit, you may be able to get a half inch back by running the stand without its adjustable feet. But the tempered glass top shelf may be a concern if the desk surface does not make contact with all four posts.

I didn't really want to spend $200+ for an AV rack. This one is decent although on close inspection the finishing has a number of blemishes (e.g. scratches or missing paint) here and there. Can't expect much more for the price, but it looks fine from a comfortable viewing distance.
