It’s a brewing cleaning product in told that’s pretty much oxyclean on steroids.

PBW is an alkaline, non-caustic, environmentally and user friendly cleaner Cleans everything, plastic, glass, stainless steel, tanks, carboys, bongs, pipes, hose, anything
It stands for powdered brewing wash. It's commonly used in commercial brewing applications. You mix an ounce or two per gallon depending on the level of soil.
But you could probably get it cheaper if you have a local brewing supply. Oxi-clean probably works great too, but I have this around for brewing.
Soak it in this:
It might take a few days, but eventually you’ll just be able to shake it and all the sediment will just slide out. It’s designed to clean brewing equipment that you can’t get a brush into. Works great every time! Just takes some time, but at least there’s no scrubbing.
I've been using PBW with great success. I'm not sure if it's available in the UK but I'm sure there is an equivalent.
After I have removed the trub and given it a good rinse I add some PBW powder and enough hot water in the kettle to cover the grain basket. I'll throw my hop spider and anything else that needs a good soak. Then I turn on the burner and set the temp 120 or so. After it gets warm I turn on the recirculation pump and let it go for a good 10 mins or so. PBW is very good at removing stuck on debris. When the 10 min soak is done I drain most of the PBW/water but leave enough to give everything a good scrub using the harder green side of a sponge.
be careful and wear gloves. the stuff makes glass slick when you grab it. its your skin melting...
The best! You are meant to clean brew kettles and kegs with the stuff, basically oxyclean, but it's cheap and the layers and layers of resin will just fall off with a good soak at the proper concentration. Too strong and I heard it'll etch the glass, but it gets in all the little cracks really well.
Get a drop-down for the reclaim then get Five Star PBW Cleaner to clean all your glass. I have tried ISO + Salt, 420 cleaner, darkstar...and tons more. This is the best hands down. Soak overnight and it is perfect in the morning.

Powdered Brewery Wash. I actually use pure Sodium Percarbonate (an ingredient in PBW that I can get at my homebrew store) and a bunch of other people use OxyClean FREE--all are excellent cleaners for cidermaking equipment.
I purchased PBW and it makes my bong look sparking clean. You add less than a tablespoon (depending on the size of your bong), mix it with hot water, and in two hours or less it'll be super clean. Its also really fun watching it lift all the gunk away

Recently bought and tried PBW and it works great. Isopropyl alcohol and sea salt have always been my go-to but PBW is definitely a notch up. One hour soaking in PBW had about the same effect as an overnight soak in alcohol.

I soak mine in this, it's amazing
PBW is a good glass cleaner.
Breweries use it to clean equipment and growlers, so it's food grade.
If you have a scale, it takes 1.5oz to make a gallon and the link is for 4 pounds, it lasts a while.
It's also reusable.
So you can either:
Get a gallon jug with a pump dispenser and funnels to mix the solution in.
Empty pieces and rinse out
Fill the pieces with the solution and soak for several hours.
Dump solution out, and rinse glass off
Or
Use Tupperware or a gallon bucket with a lid.
Empty and rinse pieces, soak in bucket for several hours.
Dump solution back in the bucket, rinse glass off.
Replace solution in bucket every few days.
Looks like the 4 pounder is on sale 🤷♂️
Stainless doesnt hold on to a lot of skanky smells so there's that. If you want to give it a good clean order some Five Star PBW and you'll be good to go.
Try soaking the basket overnight in this. It works very well

I swear by this stuff since I started home brewing mead. OMG--it dissolves anything organic that is sticking to your cookware.

Soak in hot solution overnight, wipe clean, rinse, done.
There is a general "DIY" PBW thread that a lot of people claim to use successfully:

I personally have the best luck with PBW (it seems to do best on my stainless equipment, compared to oxiclean/TSP blend), so just bite the bullet and buy it in larger quantities. Amazon has 4lb for ~$25 or so. I'll try to make it last longer by cleaning other items (tubing, fittings, ball values, mash tun, etc) with oxiclean, though.
