It’ll never stop until you get him neutered. In the meantime:

Earplugs. Something like these. Trust me. I tried to just muscle through and hope the noise is just a one-time thing, but I caved one night, ordered some on the spot, and do not regret it in the least. They won't help now but you'll feel better knowing you'll have restful nights on the way.

Try this. I’m a light sleeper and any kind of noise outside my room wakes me up. I need to get myself otherwise I’d go insane. Tried dozen of ear foam varieties, this one’s the most comfortable and it blocks any noise outside your door. Now I don’t even hear my cats when they mew at the door in the middle of the night to wake me up.
I buy these cheap disposable ones off amazon, and keep them in my car and in a little keychain holder at all times so that I always have them if I unexpectedly run into loud environments. Sometimes I bite them in half to make them flush with my ear canal, and most people mention to me that they had no idea I had them in until I told them. I suppose they only would be non-noticeable if you have fair skin though.
As for protection, I wouldn't recommend them for super loud environments - but they do the job for most bars, mowing the lawn, and some concerts.
I highly suggest earplugs. I am a light sleeper and noises from neighbors would drive me batty (even when not trying to sleep). I bought these from amazon and they have been a life saver Flents Quiet Please Ear Plugs (50 Pair) NRR 29 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001J4HB1C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_v5HUDbGV8X6DJ
Real life pro tip: buy some cheap foam earplugs off Amazon, and cut them in half. They will dampen the sound enough to prevent your ears ringing, are slim enough that almost no one can tell you’re wearing them, and you’ll have about 50 pairs for $10. Do not push them too far in your ear though.
Example: Flents Quiet Please Ear Plugs (50 Pair) Source: have used for years.
Put a jar of these on your desk with a sticky note:
"If you have noise complaints, take two and go away."
I wear them anytime i go to a show. Normally the sound quality is just fine, doesn't ruin anything for me. i hear everything fine, it's just not as loud.
i wore some like this last night at a concert, everything sounded great
This honestly seems like a pretty good option. If you liked driving the Miata, there won't be too many convertibles that drive similarly but are quiet.

Even though I don't think they alter the musicality of the concert, it doesn't matter to me if they do. My hearing comes first.
Be sure to take ear plugs. I recommend https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J4HB1C Flents foam rubber.
Try to get her to wear them too.
Best ones I have found. Live and die by these things the past 30 years:

The seal is amazing when you figure them out.
Flents ear plugs are really good. I also have really loud neighbors, I pop these in when it's time to unwind and I can't hear anything at all
Have you tried straight-up earplugs? I find Flents to be comfortable enough for long-duration use.
Bose does make in-ear models, but they have a lower NRR than plugs.

I "cured" my ex-wife of snoring using these very comfortable earplugs: https://www.amazon.com/Flents-Quiet-Please-Plugs-Pair/dp/B001J4HB1C/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=ear+plugs&qid=1576195388&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=8-7
I still use them because it's now my dog that keeps me awake snoring.
Not too much, especially if they can afford babies
