It's basically a computer workstation that can go up and down. I would imagine you could build something that functions similarly, as long as the desktop you're thinking about is light enough. You would just Mount a track system. Probably have one on each end and one in the middle. Maybe sliding dovetail bars with some sort of latch or catch.

If the desktop is going to be really heavy then you may need a different approach.

What most people use for this situation is just one of those desk risers.
