I really dislike moleskin, but I think it's just my own preference. I go with the Fox River liners because they're thinner than cotton and elastic so I don't have to worry about the fabric bunching and giving me blisters (I have plenty of experience with nasty blisters!). Here's a link to them on REI. My feet get obscenely hot and sweaty, so having both my socks and liner be a cooling type fabric helps a lot. I would also preemptively tape between toes or areas of chafing if you're worried. If you get regular athletic tape for sport injuries it works fine and sticks to the skin. You can also carry gauze with you and create your own bandages or moleskin if you do this.
Yeah, the Lowas are preeeeetty steep, but well worth it. However, I did try on a pair of Vasque boots at REI when I was shopping for my second pair that I really enjoyed as well. Half the price, and they're often on sale. I think I tried the Breeze 2.0 model? I noticed they definitely aerated more than my Lowas. I went with the Lowas, but it was mainly because I am a creature of habit. But the price of the Vasque Breeze was tempting.
When hiking you can use liner socks and another pair of socks. Liner socks are very thin and silky. It can feel like your getting blisters but don't. Farthest day hike in them was 40.5 miles and no blisters.
Examples but not exactly like I use.

Mine seem a bit more like these in terms of knit and fabric. Mountain equipment coop might have some good ones.
