if I was concerned I would use the forstner bit to cut a hole all the way thru in MDF or scrap. then use a router with flush trim bit.

To create the holes I found got this MFT replacement top for $100. The picture in the link is wrong the top is actually bigger, it is the top for this table. I have a plunge router and used a router bit like this one, through the replacement top holes into my workbench top. I will use it again to make a slightly smaller template from 1/2 inch ply for future use and then use the replacement top for a small portable bench.
I got the dogs with this fence from https://benchdogs.co.uk, shipping was $40 which was hard to swallow but I liked the fence and I need all the help I can get with accuracy. I really wish I had got a couple of quad dogs.
I'm struggling with setting up a jib for cutting dados with a router.
I'm using 3/4" ply and want to cut a 3/8" deep dado. I followed this guide and bought this router bit, but it seems way too deep. What bit should I buy to make this work?
