I don't think Peterson is a self help guru even though he gives a lot of advice on self help topics. Peterson is much more a pattern finder. Looking for commonality in ancient stories, myths and religions.
Before you get your book here is a good catch up on Peterson

My advice is to Get a skill, get a job that doesn't have a ceiling, listen to podcasts while you're working at your job if possible or exercising.
The summary of Peterson's philosophy is to gain meaning through struggle and building something. The meaning comes during, not before or after.
This IMO is the only self help book you need
Here's a book I wish I would have read at 18. Hope you give it a shot. It's short.
