Comfortable and long term wear are generally things a person will have to work up to. Anytime I've taken a break from wearing a cage and then started again, it's not entirely comfortable for about a week to ten days, particularly at night and for awhile after I've gotten up in the morning. During the day, it's fine. So, just temper your expectations with the high likelihood that your pet will not be able to take it out of the box, put it on and go directly into a week of full time wear. (Some people are lucky though...)

Having said that, I've really gotten to like the Holy Trainer like designs and the cheap ones I've gotten off of Amazon have been perfectly acceptable as far as general comfort and long term wearability in my opinion. If you're not taking it off every day for a thorough cleaning, it takes some determination and practice to maintain hygiene with it still in place, so keep that in mind.

Anyway, for starting out, and for changes over time, I like offerings that have multiple rings and you should pick a length that is the same as his smallest length or just slightly smaller. You won't want to start out with something he's crammed into and bulging through any openings when completely soft and that's almost as bad as leaving a bunch of 'room to grow' at the end. There IS a 'just about right' as far as length.

This is basically what I have (and I'm able to wear it for -months- continuously, in pretty reasonable comfort after the first little while of letting my skin and body get used to it;)

I would go to amazon and order a holy trainer knockoff that comes with multiple rings. That way you can try the sizes and find what works for you
