Great post, I LOVE Emily Sweeney, for an outsider she really knows her stuff.

Not sure if you noticed, it wasn’t prominent, but there’s a pic of Georgie McLaughlin in the upper right hand corner of page 1 from his trial.

I can’t tell you how many McLaughlin family members are still around the Boston area. They’re like cockroaches, there’s so so many of them and almost all the men are named either George, Bernie and Edward after 3 of the brothers involved in the gang war. They’re all half ass criminals and wanna be thugs living off a name from 60’s years ago.

CT-CT, that’s great you’ve been looking into the McLaughlin gang. It’s strange there is a fraction of info on them compared to the WHG. Guess it had to do with WHG winning and the whole Whitey Bulger myth wrapped in.

One book you absolutely MUST check out is a raw, almost amateurish type book written a few years ago by McLaughlin gang member Francis “Gaga” Murray. Gaga was the real deal and in the midst of the war with them. Even though he eventually lived in Southie, his heart and allegiance was 💯 % with Charlestown. He tells the story as it really was; how growing up Whitey wasn’t much, how Buddy McLean put Somerville and WHG on the map and for an old man he happens to go into graphic detail of many of the women he and the McLaughlin’s slept with.

Gaga died a few years ago but up to the end of his life he was feisty as hell and known for his all night BBQ/parties even into his 80’s. I linked it below, if you belong to kindle plus it’s free if not it’s fairly inexpensive but well, well worth it.
