Garmin has new sensors that are separate and go on the hub and crank. They're also removable so you can move them to different bikes with ease.
Also, it looks like (according to Amazon) there is a newer version of the GSC-10 available, but it appears this model uses an accelerometer instead of the traditional magnets.
GSC-10 is about $30 cheaper and I'm assuming works just as well?
Thank you for the info. I have a mountain bike and went to a local bike shop to get a slick tire for the rear which I swapped on. So essentially If I buy this:
And this:
I have what I need to get started with Zwift?
I have no experience with Magene sensors, but I use this package and it works well.
I have the vivoactive HR and really like it: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/538374
Has an analog face: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/5336b7e9-40c9-4836-aebf-8b11ff9d65bc
It's rectangular but a lot cheaper than the Fenix. IMO the rectangular shape means it's much more comfortable on your wrist; doesn't get in the way when you tilt your palm towards your arm. You can swim with it and it records strokes and laps automatically (HR sensor usually won't work under water). Battery lasts a week or more. Compatible with Garmin cycle trackers (I really recommend this set).
I had similar requirements to yours (generic looking watch, long battery life, fitness tracking, WATERPROOF)... turns out the waterproofness was the hardest one and most smartwatches weren't.
Have fun
I know this is an old thread, but the speed sensor I use attaches with thick rubber bands and would be easily transferable between bikes.
Most of the Garmin line is ANT+ only (or at least that was the case when I was digging into this last year), and generally considered to be the standard. They are also similarly priced (if not a little cheaper- see links) to the Wahoo ones, which is also compatable with iOS.
