Ugh, just noticed that. Yeah, if that ridge down the middle of the beater can't be smoothed out, then your beaters absolutely need replacing. Even if you do exactly what I said in my previous comments, you are still hitting the head with an edge.
They say the old ways are the best. Looks like that might be true in this case.
