The retail price is $399 for a standard gtx1070 reference card. However, they are out of stock everywhere so many retail are charging a lot more.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5 256 bit PCI-E 3.0 x 16 Windforce OC (GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HHCA1IO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xHyPzbNC15QQC
This card is listing for $399 RIGHT NOW, but it's not in Stock until Sept 6th.. It will sell out in a day or two I promise. Get it while it's low.
From the top review, it seems Amazon are still selling the cards without the thermal pad fix. You can look up "evga thermal pad issue" and it'll give you some info on that.
Anyways, could go with this maybe.
is there a certain reason you are looking at getting the 970? especially for $369? Here is an 8gb 1070 for the same price and I am positive you can find others cheaper https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-GDDR5-Windforce-GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD/dp/B01HHCA1IO/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1488682302&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1070
A video card upgrade is all you need. If you are finding you need more ram after that then make sure you get the exaxt same speed and CAS (latency).
This is the best bang for the buck 1070 right now.
For the case that I picked out for you, and maybe even the one you had originally chosen, that is kind of a gigantic card. If you are planning to not put any 3.5 inch hard drives in then it's okay, as it will block drive bays. If not, check this one out https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-GDDR5-Windforce-GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD/dp/B01HHCA1IO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485196595&sr=8-1&keywords=Gigabyte+GeForce+GTX+1070+8+GB+GDDR5+256+bit+PCI-E+3.0+x+16+Windforce+OC+%28GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD%29
You can get the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB for a bit cheaper going to Amazon.
Ah only for participating retailers then. Well at least the $330 Jet deal I got for this beauty was worth it then. Makes missing out on a $60 code not feel as bad.
My friend is building a PC soon. He wants a 1070 but is on a budget. I've been watching prices for a couple of weeks now and as of this comment he could afford one at $380 like this gigabyte:
Is this a good/reliable card? Any idea if other 1070s will drop in price at the end of the month despite being such a new video card? And is EVGA safe to purchase? they claim to have put on thermal pads on their new shipments to retailers.
I want to upgrade my Windows 10 gaming/coding computer. Need a quick sanity check and a motherboard recommendation. I've been building computers for over a decade but I'm very much out of the loop on what's good nowadays...
In case it's important, right now I have a GTX 770, i5-4670K, and 8GB of DDR3. I'm trying to drive dual 1440p monitors that one day I'd like to upgrade to dual 4k monitors. Budget isn't a huge concern, but obviously I'm not looking to waste money and I'm aiming for the sweet spot before you start running into serious diminishing returns but still have decent futureproofing.
I was thinking Gigabyte GTX 1070 Windforce OC ($400), a i7-6700K ($330), and 2x8GB G.Skill 3000MHz ($90).
For a motherboard I'm pretty lost. I have a mild interest in overclocking, I already have a Corsair water cooler I'd use, I have like 6 hard drives so lots of SATA ports are needed, and I have about a billion USB devices plugged in the back so keeping that capability is nice. Also I'm pretty sure I'm using both USB2 headers on my current motherboard as well to capacity (so 4 connections).
Given that info, any motherboard recommendations?
Also I have a huge aversion to GPU coil whine... the Gigabyte 1070s aren't known to have that are they?
Any help appreciated!
The 1070 seems to be in stock as well.
